Well its been awhile since I've posted here but thought I'd document this build. I think of this place with fondness and members like Cagey who were so patient and really help explaining things and passing on their knowledge. So a heartfelt thanks to all. I ordered a custom build for this one. A one piece ash vintage tele build. I told Warmoth grain and character are good. They really delivered as usual. Ill use grain filler and nitrocellulose lacquer. I don't have a spray booth and will use rattle cans to get it done so with a Colorado winter upon us I'll have to pick and choose my days for spraying. Should be fun.

Here is my neck. I went with a Muskrat. They have a few options Warmoth doesn't offer. So it is maple and rosewood. Clay markers, 59 trussed position and side markers placed 50/50. It has a bone nut and a 57 soft V shape and 6230 vintage frets.

Thanks man! You are one of the ones too. Was always grateful for all the advice and help. Made a guitar for each of my 3 cousins in the last couple years. They were stoked. Some good quality strats n teles. All that tinkering around years back paid off. Good to see ya.

I'm going back and forth between Mary Kaye White and Blonde. Using cans form a company called Oxford. Both are semi transparent and take a few coats to build so the grain should pop either way.

Do chefs kiss quite a lot? I have been to many restaurants over the years and never experienced that.

Hahaha cause they are in the back keeping on the low.

Some of the 59 slabs had the white guard and blonde. I was leaning towards that. It's always hard to decide. I like the variations of the older Teles over the years.

Leveled and crowned the frets yesterday. Got a coat of amber and a coat of clear today. That Strat neck is from fender. I was trying to get close to that.

Made some progress the last couple days. Had a warm spell. Neck is at the sanding stage. Have it roughed in with 320. The body got grain fill but sanding most of that away. Really wanted the grain to show. Did a coat of sanding sealer after that, sanded it with 320 a bit and got another coat today. Natural ash aint bad at all.

Allright so I did a coat of Mary Kay and the a coat of blonde. I think I'll leave it at that and focus on the clear coats from here. I'm happy with the grain bleeding through.

That is looking great! Where did you get your paint?
