That figure is far too beautiful to cover with a scratchplate, surely? If you've got some cherry burl for a control plate, why not make a mount for the neck pup in the same stuff and keep the redwood on display? 

That's a fantastic video. When you see the effort and attention to detail that goes in, suddenly $5000 seems a much smaller price to pay.

How about a 7-string Z-body? That would be way cool. Also a 6-string version of the current W 7-string. I've seen a few people asking for a 6-string version of the Gecko bass, and a slightly scaled-down version of the 7 would have echoes of that. Coincidentally, I used to be in a band...

Not me I'm afraid, I'm not planning a build anytime soon unless something surprising happens. FWIW, if I was planning a build that's the bridge rout I would want, and I really hope it gets added to the list of options.
