I always get staggered tuners (Schallers).  Never had a problem using those with a properly slotted nut.

I want to convert my Blacktop Jag to a 12, but W won't do it being 24 in scale and all.  :(  I'm thinking about redrilling the headstock myself, reslotting or replacing the nut, and putting new saddles in the TOM to accommodate 6 more strings. Sure, I could just go buy a 12, but where's the...

Good info Cagey, thank you.  I think I might go ahead and put the threaded inserts on this one.  I have avoided it in the past because I have heard that the insertion has to be precise.  Might be worth it though.

I've done the work on my last two Warmoths myself and have been quite pleased.  However, this new baritone neck that I have makes me a little nervous.  Since the truss rod adjustment is in the heel, How can I know how much to adjust before attaching it to the body?  I suppose I can just slap it...

Bump for the San Diego boys... I don't think Fred is at Guitar Zone anymore.  Anyone know his whereabouts? I tried Top Gear in La Mesa and they are good folks, but kind of hit and miss.  Anyone else in the greater San Diego area that is top notch?
