First Ever Warmoth Project - Progress Made....

So today I managed to: 1. Install Locking Schaller Tuners 2. Install string ferrules and bridge 3. Start the wiring I had to redrill for the bridge as the hardtail I got had a different positioning of the screws meaning I filled the warmoth-drilled holes with a dowel and filler. Worked just...

First Ever Warmoth Project - Progress Made....

Thanks bluetalon Sorry everyone for another delay. The day I was suppose to put the guitar together, I was hit with a bad case of flu with tonsillitis so I was bedridden for while. I will definitely be finishing this now tomorrow and update as soon as its done! Only hours to go! :-)

Cocobolo - Worth The Extra Spend?

Hi all, I am thinking of putting together a cocobolo body and a neck for my next build. Does anyone have this combination and have you heard a dramatic difference in tone, for example, compared to Indian Rosewood? Any advice would be kindly appreciated. Thank you, Sam

First Ever Warmoth Project - Progress Made....

Another update for this project. Body is now ready after I mixed some oil colouring with the Tung Oil. I used yellow and results are quite nice giving it a vintagy look. I will post some pics tomorrow. Its good to be back (again). I really miseed this place. :-)

    Tru-oil on a maple neck

Im finishing a neck this very Sunday with Tru-oil. 6-8 coats sounds about right. I mixed it with a bit of thinner though as to stop it getting sticky. I also used coffee filters which worked very well. After some steel wool sanding, the neck is now both protected and smooth to the thumb, so...

What are the best humbuckers to use for a 3-humbucker strat?

What tone or style of music as you wanting? That would be a good starting point. Also, why 3 humbuckers? Its not a negative question, but just only curious as it may aid in the responding to the question.

Anyone going to NAMM this year?

The Epiphone side of the room was better than the Gibson side. I think Gibson simply has to fire their head of Marketing and head of design for new guitars and focus on its core guitar. The LP Standard. Why they are doing such ridiculous things like MinEtune and all that crap is beyond me. Not...

    Hello! My name is Maka......

Indeed. Been doing it right since 1956 bless her. Needless to say, this is a labour of love for her and she has cemented herself in Fender History.

    Settling in time?

I tend to go with Graph tech String Savers. Reasons include minimal string breakage with a huge amount of bending, sustain, tone and tuning. If you ever get a chance try them. They have worked wonders for me.

    Sustain killers?

Try the saddles change and some lubricant under all those areas I mentioned as well as checking your pickup height and anything in your signal.

Ah Shucks! Did I order the wrong Tuners?

Mully might be right. I put two tuners in (without screwing the nuts in) just to see and I dont think it would be that different. My other concern however is if the positioning of the pegs (right of the barrel rather than left of the barrel) is correct. So if the turn the pegs in the clockwise...

Ah Shucks! Did I order the wrong Tuners?

I think I have ordered the wrong tuners. I have a right hand reversed W strat neck but I ordered 6 left tuners (as would be on a standard strat headstock). Have ordered the wrong schallers? Here is the Warmoth page and by looking at the tele headstock there, I think I have. Darn...
