Rear-routed bodies: getting pots to fit.

I'm not sure if there's a way to clean them.  I've only been using them for a couple of years...haven't had any issues with scratchiness yet, but now you have worried!  They do feel great though...super smooth.

Rear-routed bodies: getting pots to fit.

I've run into the same problem (I LOVE the short-shaft bourns pots), and my solution was to break out the dremel tool and carefully route out about 1/8" of wood around each pot hole in the control cavity by hand.  It's not the most elegant solution, and isn't as clean looking as a machine...

Micro Mesh or An Auto Polishing Compound?

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it that much.  I have a tru-oiled guitar, and it's a pretty soft finish...at least mine is.  I spent a lot of time trying to get it perfectly smooth, and I did a decent job (I think), but it started scratching up almost immediately.  It wears much, much faster than...

    Pau Ferro neck

Agree on the great feel of pau ferro!  I have one, as well as a wenge neck, and am totally sold on raw necks.  I personally don't think you need to be any more careful with raw necks than you do any other neck.  I keep the room where I store my guitars at 45% as well, but I have also taken...

    GAS Alert!!!!

Ha ha!   I'm pretty sure that neck was meant for me!   I noticed that they are now offering 24 3/4 conversions with custom contours (finally!), so I ordered a replacement with exactly those specs minus the Floyd shelf for my V.    Got an email from W a couple of weeks ago saying that it didn't...

1st tele body is here......and WOW

And how heavy is the body?    How are you planning to finish it?    I've got to admit...I'm kind of GASing for an all-raw build for myself after seeing that body!

    Show me some Goncalo necks!

It's tough for me to characterize pao vs . other woods...it's the only neck I've had on this particular guitar, and it's the only warmoth pro construction neck that I have.  A bit brighter, like maple, I'd guess?  And it is all pau ferro, but it is a two-piece.  I don't think one-piece is an...

    Shady guitar tech...gah.

I gotta say I sort of agree with Cagey...when you buy a guitar off the shelf, it should play well and have the correct setup.  After that, setup is really more of a maintenance issue unless it is caused by something structurally/mechanically wrong with the guitar.  Expecting lifetime of free...

    Show me some Goncalo necks!

I can't speak to all of them, but I have a wenge and a pau ferro.  Both are GREAT feeling, but as far as straight-up smoothness, pau ferro wins.  It's much more tight grained and less porous than the wenge (at least on my two necks).

    Warmoth neck compatible with Hamer?

Random question... So, I've completely fallen in love with the SRV contour and SS 6100 frets on the Warmoth tele I just built, and now I want that feel on every guitar I own.  I have a wonderful Mary Kay finished Hamer Daytona strat copy from the '90's that sounds great and looks great. ...
