I've found the low winds to do the trick.  Jason Lollar makes a nice set , and I have a set of low wind Fralins that are crystal clear.  The filtertron family by TV jones is an excellent example of sparkley  low wind humbuckers .

I used them under the former Maxima name, Frank Zappa was an endorser back in the day . These were the best strings I ever played , and I've tried everything.  They resist corrosion very well . Pricey ..hell yes .. worth it .. to me yes indeed .  I'm putting a set on my Jaros as soon as it's time.

I built a G4 Bass with Paduak/ebony  ..wonderful combination . I used mahogany/koa for the body. My son has it now , 4 years and no issues.
