    Unfinished maple neck

Here's a neck from a beater guitar (Squire II) that's destined to be a Frankenstrat of some sort...  Surprisingly, the neck actually plays great and even has some slight flame on the back.  I guess Squires were a lot better in the Eighties.

Tru-oil. How much do I need?

Thanks for the feedback, guys.  I was a bit worried that It'd go through the bottle quickly, and then have to keep buying more. I am excited about this project. Can't wait to get it started (but i've got one or two other tasks to get out of the way first)

Tru-oil. How much do I need?

I am about to begin finishing an all-maple neck and an all-mahogany body, and I've decided that I want to use tru oil. I know how to use sealer and grain filler on the mahogany, but I'm not necessarily looking for a "glass like flat finish." Would it require a ridiculous ammount of Tru-Oil if I...

News for Jaguar, Mustang and Jagstang fans

Hey guys, that's really cool.  I was going the other way with it, though, and wanted to put a Mustang neck on a 7/8 body... only thing is, I already have plenty of Strats (don't care for Teles -- sorry)  and I wanted to do a custom shaped body.  I called Warmoth and asked if I could get a body...

Brian May pickups and wiring question(s)

Sweet.  Thanks guys.  I'm putting these pickups and electronics in a custom Blueshawk body that I'm making.  So, if I didn't want to use the slider switches, could I use the mini toggle switches instead? If so, should I use the ON/ON type?

Brian May pickups and wiring question(s)

Just bought a set of Burn Tri Sonic pickups, and I was wondering what kinds of switches I should use (3 on/off and 3 phase reversal switches) Anybody know?

    Stripping Finish

I used the Jasco Paint Stripper on my all maple Fender Strat neck, and YES, IT DID TAKE OFF THE BLACK INLAYS!  Be careful.  Don't know what this particular neck's inlays were made of,  but they are no more...

    Is it just me....

I HATE the Tele body (and headstock), but I really like the aesthetic of the pickguard and plate and everything... that's why I'm building a Strat with Tele stuff on it.

    Wenge/Wenge & Wenge/MacEbony VIP - PICS ADDED!!

That's gonna be some serious work, wenge is extremely hard... can't wait to see it when it's done!

    EMG 85 in bridge

I put an 85 in the bridge position of my LP (with an 81 in the neck) and I liked it as well.  I can't say exactly what the difference is because I wasn't able to do an A-B comparison, but it was cool, I haven't switched 'em back... Good thing about EMGs is that you can swap them out with...

    Help picking a no-finish neck

I know you've already heard about wenge necks, but I've got to tell you that I love mine.  I have a wenge neck with ebony fretboard and SS frets, and I don't think it's too bright (it's on par with my Gibson LP that has a mahogany/ebony neck. Wenge looks badass too.

Swamp ash question - am I in the minority?

Maybe they cut the wood on the body (in the example given) like they did because they figured the front would be covered by the pickguard and bridge plate.

    Hipshot Locking Tuners?

Sorry, man.  Don't know anything about their functionality, but my next build will have them for sure.  I've been wanting to try them out for a while.  I have used Hipshot bridges before and they are frickin' awesome, so I'm sure the tuners are of good quality.  I know a lot of bass players love...

    I'm full of questions!

Because they have a differently shaped heel.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can put a Tele neck on a Strat body (or vice versa), but there will be a small gap showing (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).  I know the old Warmoth site explained this in detail (I haven't searched the new site...
