    Considering an Ebony Fretboard

Personally, I don't like ebony. It's a bright sounding wood. Compared to Indian rosewood, you feel like you're missing out on some of the mid frequencies. Compared to maple, there's less character and snap. Aesthetically, ebony is naturally chocolate coloured with streaks and highlights. Guitar...

    Spanish Cedar

I don't understand the comparison to Brazilian Rosewood. Seems like a marketing ploy.

Creative, technical, and talented, but lacking emotion IMO.

He did the circus thing again! Know what I said before?  I'll take it back.  I'll let this guy in my band, if he can learn to play out of key on purpose all the time, and he tunes down to drop A.

Any experience with Tried and True Wood Finish

The advantage of tung oil is that it sounds better than hard finishes.  But it's not meant to be used on porous woods.  It's best for maple necks.

Can you post a pic of the wood grain?

Creative, technical, and talented, but lacking emotion IMO.

The second guy was better in pretty much every way, but too metal. The first guy wasn't pleasant to listen to.  Very "young" playing.  He was being very obvious in his attempt to be flashy, but he doesn't really understand the instrument.  Plus he was making a lot of typical mistakes like...

    The Meaning Of Life..

Chuck7 hit a few nails on the head.  I have regrets, and they're mostly connected to treating people poorly.  I don't see how I can live without regrets, given that I can't change the past. Being content is a skill and a blessing. Our society's culture of indulgence bothers me, although I...

warmoth Les Paul #8: quilt maple emerald dye

No need for drama, I'll readily admit I post like a noob.  :occasion14:  I'm just looking for first hand experience on a very specific matter.

warmoth Les Paul #8: quilt maple emerald dye

Hi again, I read through those threads you linked to, but they were about neck finishes, not about the tone of all rosewood necks.  I read through a handful your other threads in this forum and I didn't find much there either about tone.  What I'm looking for is a clear and concise explanation...

    Suggestions for Metal Guitar

I don't think your audience will hear the difference, but I still can.  Some woods will have a rounder low end, some woods will have harsher highs, etc.

Because I have the sense that you know what you're talking about, and you're using an all rosewood neck on a les paul body with a mahogany back, maple cap, and seth lovers.  My favourite guitars are identical to that, except for the all rosewood neck. Yup, I have an acoustic with an all...

What difference does the all rosewood neck make to the sound and feel?  Is it unfinished?
