    New Maple Neck Arrived

Thanks everyone.  I started finishing the neck this past weekend.   I tried to copy the amber color of my Eric Johnson neck and got pretty close so onward to finishing it up.   The EJ is on the bottom and the new Warmoth neck on top.  Not bad for a $207 neck including nut!  Has a bunch of birds...

    New Maple Neck Arrived

The unfinished maple neck I ordered custom has arrived.  1-3/4" with boat profile which I knew would be too much but wanted something to work with on shaping.  I have already taken off about 100 mils off the back by rounding the shape and in the final tweaking stage.  I have the neck mounted for...

    Strat's here!

Max is most likely correct.  On my Warmoth neck the last couple of frets (near the body) were high - really high.  A fret level fix it.  I like vintage white.  Good looking Strat! Scott

Partscaster on the way (COMPLETED! w/Pics!)

I got my Hwy 1 burst strat body from Statosphere and neck from Warmoth with 6150 frets (I like 'em).   Everything fit perfectly.   What kind of pickguard?  White with white pickup covers?  It's going to be a good looking Strat!

Using naphtha for final wet sanding

I used mineral spirits on my last two nitro wet sand projects and turned out really well.  The big plus is mineral spirits avoids exposed wood swelling issues of plain water like with screw holes.  Negative issues are vapors so I wet sanded in the garage with a respirator.   Soak the sand paper...

    Strat Project Complete

Thanks again everyone.  The neck was relatively simple to finish.  I purchased one can each of Stew Mac amber and Stew Mac clear coat nitrocellulose rattle cans.  One of each is more than enough for a neck.  An all maple neck could be a different story.  The rosewood, of course, has no finish...

    Strat Project Complete

Thanks... The headstock?  Sure... One coat of Stew Mac amber nitro for color then clear.  The maple grain runs parallel with the strings.  I've never noticed hard rock maple silking before but really stands out in the photo.  Has some runout so not perfect but looks pretty cool.   I also need to...
