I'm really get into replacing my guitar strings tonight. I clean all related parts thoroughly.  I'm curious what yous prefer.  For me, I like DR tite fit round core 11.  They're better than any string, pricier but I'll pay it.  Once broken in these strings stay in tune and don't feel like cables chewing up finger tips.  What do you prefer?

D'Addario 10s. Although, I'm going to try some Ernie Ball SS 9s here pretty soon.

E, usually. A when I have to.

:rock-on:

..seriously. But, Ernie Ball coated Slinkys for rounds, .50-.105, or EB flats in the same gauges.

There's a thread on this exact topic in Polls

and I play Elixer .09-.42s and tune to Eb

Electrics I use D'Addario 10 -46. That's my 'standard' gauge. I went through a 'blues' period with my Strat where I had it set up to handle a much heavier gauge, changed the tonality of the instrument significantly too. I think I had 12 - 53 or so for that experiment with a wound G string.

I use D'Addario 10s also on standard setups. I also use the EB heavy top/light bottom for the dropped C stuff on one (soon to be two) guitars.

Now that I think about it more, I used to love Darco 10-46 strings 20-some years ago, but my local shop closed and couldn't find them and eventually forgot about them.

EDIT: Just checked Amazon and they're still around, still cheap, still owned by Martin. Buying a 3-pack and hopefully they're as good as I remember. Thanks for the thread else it might have been another 10 years.

Darcos felt exactly the same but a buck cheaper by the way (I think they were owned by D'Addario or something before my time). Not a big factor now, but on a $10 allowance every other week in 1989, it mattered a lot. I recall getting 4 sets and some picks for one of those 10-spots.

Good times.

I have more than a couple of guitars and yes, when I doa restring day, I go through packs! Due to laziness the strings usually stay onthere til I realise they are getting rusty! If howveer, I was semi-pro, playing regular like Trevor & others do, then it would be a different story.

Same, and weird that so many of us play these.

Maybe we should get a group endorsement.

Let me know if you get that group discount deal please!  :icon_thumright:

For the Bassists: I started using Circle K (not the store) strings a couple of months ago, and I won't go back....
I use the Balanced .142 set Handles Standard, and half-step down with ease, and
they sound great too!!!
For more info on the best strings on the market IMHO: http://circlekstrings.com/store/index.html
