Howdy all this is my second post! (whoopie) several months ago I ordered a WGD body, and a neck from soul mate guitars.
After being struck down by appendicitis, and a whole host of other things, I am finally getting to work on it. here is the 5 minute overview of the project (almost done with the finishing right now)

body right out of the box, all mahogany

after thinking about it I decided that was way way way too dark so i took some steel wool to it. i like that a lot better

I have 12 coats of wipe on poly on the sucker. I skipped the grain filling, so I have a bit of sanding to do, but that is almost done. I should be getting the pickups in the 2 or so weeks so this should be done in the not too distant future.

Nice project you got going there...That's a sweet neck, Doug makes some awesome necks. I have a neck he made for me, absolutely love it... :icon_thumright:

Got to love those Soulmate necks... Body looks great too, and personally I'd keep the feel of the grain.

Doug's neck is top notch. I used a satin on the neck which kept the raw feel of it and doesn't feel sticky, but protects it from the dings I am sure i'll add to this one it's all together.

one thing I am thinking about doing or getting done is instead of the sticker, doing in inlay, but instead of a tiger, have tigger in the same pose. I have a daughter who love tigger, and i think it would be funny, and this really is a tigger compared to the tiger  :toothy12:

i have time on that one. I also didn't get the dots on the fret board in case i wanted to get some inlay done on that. I did get the side dots put on though.

Absolutely beautiful.  Jerry would be proud.

Planning on some Super 2's for Tiger?
3 on order with an emg pa2 also. That's the hold up right now, I guess no one really stocks the super 2s anymore

You got a super build going on there.  I love that neck... :headbang1:
That baby is going to be a real tiger :icon_thumright:
Keep the pics a comin'
:kewlpics: :rock-on:

Great neck!  Not to thread hi-jack, but I just check out that site, www.soulmateguitars.com

He has mastered the maple fretboard on a non-maple neck.  Avoided, and almost unheard of.

I've always wanted to know where to WGD builders get the brassy replica parts. Are they bespoke from some local tradey, or made by talented DIYers?

Jackofroses.com the order fulfillment process is madenly slow but you will get the parts eventually. Mine took almost 5 months to get.

Maple on wenge is a winner, IMO

I finished the finish last night. here's a pic

the neck hasn't changed in appearance at all so i didn't feel like taking a picture of it. I got it mostly level, which is good enough for me. i kind of like the grain showing just a bit. I did sand it down to almost level though, so it isn't as extreme as it could have been.

I think while I wait for my pickups to come in, I am going to shield the cavity, and possibly wire what I can, and jsut throw the pickups in when they come.

After the last picture I posted, I decided i didn't want that much grain showing.... soooooo I did a bunch more work and coats on the front (I may go and do the same to the back also) and I am totally happy with the results. The grain is still showing just a bit, but i really like it that way, and it isn't as extreme.

as the saying goes, pics or it didn't happen
