WGD build

I just decided that I will probably do the same thing to the back as I did to the front. It looks a bit like the picture above the one i just posted, just not as extreme.
I finally figured out my problem and how to correct it. I was wiping the poly on always with the grain, so i changed it up, and went with the grain then against the grain with the same coat. This helps evening it out a ton.

I shall ignore the screams of my pickups to be placed in for at least another week while I even out the back, and get it looking like the front. then I'll put another coat on the whole thing just for good measure :)

official build update
guitar is wired, the pickups make a sound, and the neck is on, though probably coming off again tonight to shim it a bit.

words are useless, so here are some pictures.

if you are like bender then you like to see the guts

test to make sure the pickups are working

suprisingly it worked the first time, i expected to spend all night on it, so i decided to mount the neck

You really made the right choice about the grain; just a little bit showing, so it isn't like it's encased in amber, but not so much that it looks like marine brightwork half-way to losing its varnish.  Tasteful.

The offical update is, I just strung it up to put some tension on the neck before I play with the truss rod. I can let a fresh strung guitar sit idle, so I played it for a bit.

Word is it needs major tweaking (expected) but man does it sound nice. Also the neck is top notch! I highly recommend soul mate guitars if you are looking for a one of a kind neck

Also thanks for the comment on the finish, I thought about it for a while and just went with what I thought best. Luckily by nature I am a patient man, and something like this, I didn't want to rush.

Oh yea I have yet to test the effects loop because I do not have a cable for it yet. I am also too lasy to rig one up just for testing. Everything in it's time I guess

All the pictures are taken from my phone, as well as me posting this. If you find me on twitter (erockpgh) I do have a recent tweet from last night that has it right before I strung it up. I'll see if I vcan get a link from my phone after I get my kid to sleep in a bit

What do all the electronics do? Why do you have two output jacks? is that for stereo guitar? just curious i like circuits but i can't figure out what you have done

The neck and the middle are wired for series/north/parallel. The bridge is wired for series/north coil. I was going to wire it the other 2, but I fried the switch accidentily. I am probably going to go back and put in a 3 way switch when I get another one.

The 2 jack, and the other switch are for an effects loop. I modified an EMG pa2 to make it be a unity gain buffer. The signal always go through the buffer but when the loop is enagaged, it goes out through the lower jack, out into the effects the back into the guitar via a stereo y cable, then hits the volume pot and goes out to the amp. Othewise it'll go out like a normal guitar.

I don't have the cable yet so I haven't tested the loops, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I read up on the "Jerry Garcia effects loop" a while back.  The effects get the full output of the pickups, then it gets controlled by the volume pot?  Correct?

Ahh i see. yeah that sounds like it will work out. post info when you have it testing b/c that is a very interesting way to run effects
