Warmoth Sale Builds

yeah that was my first build and my first time painting on primed wood. Im not even much of a guitar player i love them for their artistic value as much as anything lol, ive been hoping to drum up some business at some point so that I can have the pleasure of buying, painting, and assembling custom guitars. I have an warmoth purchased EB-3/SG style bass in the process over in the WIP section.

Man, that makes me want to paint designs on guitars.  Anyone want me to paint a design on their guitar?
Find someone to bury your artwork under a clear finish and I think you may have a nice side business (not to mention a reason to buy paint supplies).

What kind of work do you do?

Well I used to paint watercolors on commission, and I painted mostly pets when I did that, but I can paint all sorts of things.  I have done people, animals, houses, cars, and sci-fi fantasy.

I'm planning on doing some more sci fi/fantasy/surreal stuff soon.  I haven't painted very much in the last year because I was busy working, getting the LP built, moving, and getting married.  But my New Year's resolution is to get a bunch of new material done and hopefully a bunch of that will be more graphic art style and a little on the weirder side.

Oh PS I have done acrylic too, and I want to get into airbrushing.  Watercolor is just my favorite.

Thanks man.  I wish they didn't look so washed out on the computer, but it might just be my screen.  I seem to remember they looked fine on my other monitor. Hmmm...

Most monitors kill artwork unfortunately - this is why I rarely do my daily work traditionally anymore.  Which sucks because traditional painting is so much bloody fun.  Oh well.

You've got some nice work there Hannah, I have praise for anybody who works in watercolor!  It's a medium that I always struggled with before finding my oils niche.

And yes, this all makes me want to paint on a guitar body too....

A lot of people give me props because I paint with watercolor which supposedly is "hard to work with".  It's funny, when I started painting, I started with watercolor.  Because of that, I think acrylic is hard.  I think it's just whatever you were "raised on".

I was raised on acrylic and then transitioned over to oil.... I never felt comfortable with the translucent paints I guess.  I like more opaque stuff apparently.

None the less, I've been illustrating full time for years and I rarely find somebody who's comfortable with watercolors - you've got a good thing happening here, I hope you keep pursuing it :headbang:

I really like this one.  Bit expensive to send a body from Australia though.  Have you thought about doing pickguards?  That could work for me.

Cheers
Chris

PS:  good stuff

I suppose I could paint on whatever you want just as long as there is a good way to make sure the paint doesn't peel off of it.

I was thinking I could do a watercolor on mylar paper, or maybe even regular paper, and stick it on the back of a clear pick guard.

just make sure you dont use an adhesive that ambers or fades the paint over time  :icon_thumright:

It would probably be fine on the mylar if I just used some extra workable fix over it before I stuck it on.

thats true, well let me know if you ever want to do something collaborative ;) my acrylics and your watercolors combined by the powers of greyskull... i mean warmoth could result in some sexy guitar designs :headbang1: :party07:

I'm a little ashamed but here is my second sale build. 2 is better than 1 right?
