Neck is here! Body shipped today.
Canary / Pao Ferro, VM '59. It's perfect in every way, just as I've come to expect.

New tele neck day for the both of us!  It's amazing how different Pau Ferro can look from piece to piece.

Beautiful neck, chrome tuners look awesome on it; wanna see it attached to the body soon :)

Yep ... very nice neck  :icon_thumright: looks quartersawn by that lovely grain, very slick.

Yessir - Qsawn indeed. The Pao board looks like a dark rosewood board from a distance but feels just like ebony.

Just seeing the title of this post I knew there were tasty pics.

For all the posts there are on wenge, canary is sweet and not mentioned near enough,

Lovely, as usual. Two excellent and beautiful woods, married up to give you a long and happy life. It's too bad more people aren't able to enjoy such nice things due to unawareness of its availability, but I don't know if there'd be enough lumber to supply the demand if everyone knew about the stuff.

Body came! Now the race is on between the dangerous neck plate and the lollar p90 or the hipshot bridge. This one isn't 'blingy' but for me so far it's the tits.

Beautiful. Canary is on my list to try. Let us now how it feels behind the pau ferro - raw necks are an open universe to me.

Very handsome pairing!  I've been contemplating a white carved top tele myself; looking forward to the results.  :icon_thumright:

Thanks all. The carved top really is nice.
Slight hiccup: Broke off a tuner screw in the headstock (Gotoh tuners! Garrh!) - first time that's happened since my first build. I was re-using the screws, and I knew they were made of a zinc / phlegm alloy, it's totally my fault. The shaft is deep in the wood, i'll need to drill around it, plug, etc. Grrrrr. Won't be visible however when I'm done.
All other parts are apparently in the mail, so it won't be more than a weed or so!

You know, that was my neck up till you beat me to ordering it.   I've let it go in my mind, but I still feel a little protective of it.  I know you'll treat it right, and on one level I'm happy for you seing as its your birthday neck.  But on another level I still feel a little jealous.  So be careful with it ok?  And play the heck out of it once you get it all set up!!

Got the bridge, and there is no contest between this (Hipshot) and the Gotoh. It's just - right. 4.4 ounces too, half the weight of the Gotoh bridge. One goal of this whole build is super-light weight. It's looking to be just over 6 lb, I'm guessing now, I'm starting to wonder if neck dive is gong to be a prob (I'd just put a bit of lead at the back of the control cavity, no biggie).
