Trans Red/RSA JM

She looks great, nice work! Definitely looking forward to hearing your impressions, and maybe even hearing some sounds?

Thanks, Verne. That photo is a little dark and I'll need to Photoshop it to get the color correct.

I've only played around with it a bit, adjusting the pickup/magnet heights and seeing what sounds I can get out of it. So far, I'm pleased as punch. It makes me want to open it up to see what it'll really do but it's almost 9:00 and although they're not all that close, the neighbors around here probably wouldn't appreciate it. I don't have any way to record anything yet but I'll check with a friend of mine who has a band about recording.

Thanks, GreatApe.

Here's a detail photo of the pickguard.

That's absolutely beautiful work, Brother! The fitting on those P-Rails looks perfect. If they looked that good in mine, I wouldn't even have thought of covering them up.

You da man!  :headbang:

The day is here. It's finished. I'm really pleased. I haven't had much chance to try it out but I did get a photo of it.

Wow! Killer axe!

(And thank-you for taking a straight-on picture that will be easy to cut out for GOM!)

Thank you, pard. I had the pickguard cut to the 'fat humbucker' routes. Then I squared off the corners at the rail side. The Trembucker, however, needed the whole opening to be widened about 1/8" to fit. That meant re-doing all four corners but it was easy to just migrate the edges a 16th more.

Thanks for the compliment. I can send that photo and a similar rear shot when the time comes.

You're assuming I get the GOM. The competition is always strong.

That's really sharp! Gotta be pretty versatile, too.
Thanks. I'm just getting used to it. This is the first time I've had a guitar with a bass bleed. Both tones are interconnected and take some getting used to. The slide switches act exactly as the diagram shows.

Looks great, super sleek. Reminds me a lot of Logrinn's Blue P90 7/8 Strat. The red on the Roasted Swamp Ash looks a lot like Black Korina though, if I didn't know it was Swamp Ash I probably would've thought Black Korina.

Thanks, Axkoa. Yeah, the color with the darker grain is much like black korina. Hopefully we will see more RSA with other transparent colors.

Fantastic, Rgand.  Just fantastic.  I'm still gonna copy this one as a jazz bass.  You ok with that?

Thanks, Ghotiphry. Am I OK with you making a similar jazz base? You bet! I'd like to see that. It would be a fine instrument. :icon_thumright:

You fixed everything that's not Fender-enough for those who love cherry-red 70s SGs with Bigsbys but want them to be more Fender-y.  Well done!

Thanks. Except for color, it's pretty much pure Fender. For an SG aficionado, this would be the same as removing the toggle and tossing the rest then building a guitar around it. :icon_biggrin:

This transparent red on the Roasted Swamp ash does look good. Black pickups and so forth set it off nicely.

Good job...

Thanks, pard. I usually lean conservatively toward clean looks and function over beauty. This is by far the finest looking guitar I've owned.
