Trans Red/RSA JM

I had posted a wiring diagram on page 2 that was incorrect. It showed how I had wired the bass bleed. Well, that way didn't work all that well. I deleted that and replaced it with a correct diagram. I have also re-wired the guitar.

As long as I had it apart, I changed the Bigsby spring to a 1" one and rounded the corners slightly on the fretboard extension.

One forum member asked me about the flipped jack plate. Here's a detail photo for anyone who's interested.

Looks like some borrowed inspiration from "Lenny", the mid 80's used Strat by Lerxt, aka Alex Lifeson.

Yes, that was the inspiration although after I did it, I remembered a friend of mine in the mid-70's who had flipped his. We all thought he was a little strange for doing that. LOL.

After reading Verne's thread back when he posted it, I wanted to get that upgrade kit for my L5S' Bigsby. But, they don't come in gold. Now that you've described how to do it with a drill press, I'm thinking I can just modify the unit I have, which is already gold. Thanks!
It's pretty easy and only takes about an hour if you've never done it before. I haven't tried it yet but it should work. Of course you could wait until you hear how mine does before you commit your gold one. The decision for me was easy. I figured if I screwed it up, Callaham would sell me one.
Mine works great. I did round the leading edge of the hole where the string wraps over it lightly with a swiss file so the strings wouldn't have too sharp an edge to work on. Did you ever mod your main shaft, Kevin?
