Time for a new "Unofficial Warmoth Raffle"?

Hey Blue, You made it seem like a month, and had several threads going on about it , you had a neck thread, a body thread, a bridge thread, a wood thread, whatever.  Nice guitar came from it, I didn't like all the hoopla, and I avoided it all without bitching about it
1 day was too long

I actually liked that part.... :tard:

I did as well.  To each his own.

I go away for like 5 minutes.. and you kids all start fighting. The drawing is a fun idea. Just limit the number of donations, as it were, and free tickets as a thank you, as it were, and lets do our thing. We don't have to argue about who started what threads, and who didn't like what.

You kids play nice or I'm taking away all your toys.

I'd be up for this and have the following thoughts based on other people's input so far:

  • Limiting who can participate based on activity seems like a bad idea because there are folks that read every day but choose not to post. The only way to find out about the drawing is by visiting the site and that counts as activity.
  • Limiting who can particpate based on when they joined UW is unfair since you can be an active member now even if you didn't know about UW x weeks/months/years ago.
  • Limiting the number of chances one can buy is a double edged sword.  Too few tickets per participant = smaller prize if few play.  Too many tickets participant and those without available $$ may not feel like they have a chance and may choose not to participate.
  • In general, seems like having too many participants is better than too few.  Be nice to win enough to put together a complete axe not just a body or neck.

WOW, lots going on here.

I'm for what ever, really. It was asked about how certain things could be handled and I tossed out some ideas related to them. But I really don't care how it's done.

Only thing that really should be addressed before it gets started is the handling of the funds. What ever happens, the proceeds must be secured for the order and build up of a Warmoth guitar. I don't think the cash should just be awarded to an individual. Whom ever is in charge of the funds should work with the winner to get it ordered on their behalf with Warmoth. I would be pissed if they just walked away with the money and no Warmoth guitar came of it.

As far as what gets ordered, well if I win, I'll order what I want because I'll be the one playin' it. Seriously doubt it would be a "community" designed guitar. :icon_jokercolor:  But with me, it would be something really cool as usual. :icon_thumright:  And it would have EMGs. :laughing7:

+1
and i find it funny how it seems that this was already done with satisfactory results but there is so much debate this time around. i wasn't around for the last one. did anything go on that was a problem last time other than people getting anoyed that they themselves didn't win and they have to look at the guy who did win flaunting it?

I agree. Let's do it exactly like last time (except this time I get to win).

Those who don't find the show entertaining are free to switch to a different channel.

I don't mind running it again but I have been pretty busy at work so it will be a couple of days before we can actually start somthing. Plus it is NAMM weekend so I will be tied upp with that. We can prob start somting on Monday of next week.

once again, I didn't mean to propose restrictions like that..
I just don't want someones brother's friend to win this.... just board members will do..

I don't think it will really be an issue of a non board member winning. This is a pretty niche board and I don't think people are going to join just for a drawing. That said I don't think we nee restrictions. The last one ran very smooth and I think this one can be done in the same manner maybe even better since the first 2 weeks of the last one was spent mostly defending it. I think everyone can agree that if it is ran the same way it will be a success. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Thanks to everyone who organized this before, and who are willing to organize it again.  No good deed goes unpunished, for sure!

ok i got that but i still disagree. it worked perfect last time and there is no reason to expect different this time.
how many people who share our interest in guitar building are gonna A.) hear about the drawing B.) get a membership to participate C.) pay money for a ticket. and then in the unlikely event that this person wins will take the winnings and D.)says F@*# all you guys i'm building my guitar with out your help/input/suggestions/opinions and never comes back to the board enjoying his mostly free guitar and not even sharing with us the build and parts selection.
if a new member comes to the board durring the sale of tickets i say sell him one. if he wins i say conrats to him. now in the event that all the above mentioned things take place (not gonna happen) and/or we have a huge surge of new members who afterwards disappear we can implement rules next year.

No, last time was awesome.  Let's do it that way again.

Agreed, so only Ken (ocguy106) answered my question:

Cool, who want to be the keeper of the drawing??

So any other? He took the responsability last time...

I could do it, but not sure if I'd roll the virtual dice as I wouldn't want to be called a cheater if I win...
In deed I'd prefer not to take care this year, I'm pretty busy: buying a apartment, studing on work to work on a new unit, phisical therapy of my shoulder and will need to take care of the plans of my team... Enough for my little head...

Any other interested?
