Time for a new "Unofficial Warmoth Raffle"?

I hate to point out the obvious here, but the more people we get "donating" to this thing, the more money the winner gets for the new axe.  I don't think we should discourage anyone from frittering away their money on my... ahem, the winner's new guitar.

a raffle shouldn't have anything to do with loyalty or contribution to the board. it is just a raffle that happens to be hosted on and by the board members for board members. keep it simple, only a few simple rules please. the likelyhood of winning should only be determined by the number of tickets sold and therefore a members contribution to the raffle! we are a comunity here in a way not a communist/socialist regime we don't need to guilt people into contributing to the board nevermind make rules enforcing that idea. if the guy/gal that wins happens to be a prick no one likes or gets a membership just to join the raffle and gets an almost free guitar out of it then they won a fair contest with an equal opprituity to win to anyone else that contributed to the contest.

Don't start makin stupid rules about who gets to play, if theres a minimum post rule, I'm out

Frankly, I don't care who wins it, or if they have 1 post, and are never heard from again.

And sorry Blue, when someone wins it, I don't wanna see things drag on for another month, talking about what to build.
Feb 20 to March 3 was a month?  :icon_scratch:

that's not how I meant it.. I think we could say that all participants should be a member by today... or by the day the raffle starts..

I think this is a good idea... But I'd put the day before the raffle starts...
My thought is more than a "regular raffle" is more a thing from the forum than anyone that wants to be in, without any participating of the forum...
Seems like I'm more conservative on this thing than Alfang... :p

It's not like it will be advertised, so you'd have to be a board member to participate for one. Secondly, there should be a limit to how many drawing tickets an individual can purchase. And third, can the prize just be a Warmoth Gift Certificate in the total drawing take amount that is sent to the drawing winner?

Gift certificate is a good idea.  I do kind of wonder if they sell gift certificates larger than $25 though, because if you give the winner $800 worth of $25 gift certificates, they'll have to punch in like 32 separate gift certificate codes to pay for it, and that would be kind of obnoxious.

Ah, I don't know anything about Warmoth Gift Certificates.  I just assumed you could get one in any amount.  Just an idea!

I agree with Hannaugh; the gift certificate is a good idea, so long as it's not a royal P.I.T.A. for those involved. I'm also not sure why things need to be complicated (minimum post rule, maximum ticket count, etc.). After all, it's just a drawing. It's all in fun anyway, isn't it? Besides, I'm fairly certain no one is going to join the forum, win the money, then disappear. Like someone said earlier; it's not like it's going to be advertised all over the interwebs. If more people sign up, it just means the winner gets to build something even more awesome. The more the merrier, n'est-ce pas?

That being said, I do like the idea of getting input from the board re: the final build, but I think that's entirely up to discretion of the winner and how much of an autocrat he or she is.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post.

(yes this is in effect a "+1" kind of post, but I think some kind of consensus is needed before we do the, ah, drawing)

My thoughts exactly.

If I have a heads up I can probably muster some disposable income and donate to this party thing. And the post restrictions are bogus. I registered on this forum and lurked for six months until I started posting. That would count against my posts / day, if I didn't get busy once I placed my order.

Hey Blue, You made it seem like a month, and had several threads going on about it , you had a neck thread, a body thread, a bridge thread, a wood thread, whatever.  Nice guitar came from it, I didn't like all the hoopla, and I avoided it all without bitching about it
1 day was too long

Actually you bitched then and deleted the posts.  It's why I nuked almost all of those threads.  So why are you bitching again now when I haven't even done anything?

Come on, come on guys...
This is not the spirit of our forum.
I came aboard just about the time the last drawing began.
The way I see it, if the winner wants to let the board members design their prize, that is their own choice.
This type of behavior makes me not want to have any part of a future drawing.

Please, please, please; grow up...

No argument here.

Exactly.

You can say that again.

This forum is usually not like this, with people arguing and all. I haven't been around long, and wasn't here at the last drawing / raffle / whatever, but I don't see what's causing the hard feelings here.

Maybe this isn't such a good idea, if just discussing it causes issues..?

I am beginning to think this may be the case  :toothy11:
