Me thinking that something does or doesn't need grain filling is one thing, but I don't see how "stepping outside the box" will change the definition of what grainfill is.DangerousR6 said:Step outside the box once in a while, you'd be surprised.... :dontknow:Super Turbo Deluxe Custom said:That's what I take it to mean. Every Strat I've ever held, regardless of the wood, had a smooth, grain-filled finish as did the fronts and backs of Les Pauls. So the grain being the "feel" of the instrument I don't quite agree with or understand what you mean.

QUOTING PT
Nope, he's an architect by trade and is working as a resort manager for Kirkwood ski resort at Lake Tahoe.
I lived in Galveston for 4 years in the late 80s. Great food and really nice people in the Houston area.
btw Marko, your GOTY is killer. Great job. Dank u veel for making it.
Super Turbo Deluxe Custom said:They have "Dickens on the Strand" in the fall. Everyone is in 19th century character, which means bad English accents. The fall in TX, as you know, is a crapshoot. It can be sunny in the 90s and humid, nice, or cold and rainy. There's a lot of older French architecture there like you would find in New Orleans, as well as the Bishop's Palace and Ashton Villa, but it is lost on most that live there. It's been my experience that the rest of the country preserves and appreciates their older culture, history and architecture much better than us Texans. That's one reason Dallas has no identity, IMO. They would rather tear down an old building and put a Best Buy or Starbuck's in it's place. There's not many 150 year old+ buildings in TX to begin with, if there were, they've been torn down. In all honesty, Galveston is probably nicer than I give it credit for. It's just hard to think of the place where you grew up as being a destination/vacation place, especially when you know it's thuggish side. That being said, the beaches have little to no waves and the water isn't clear. Not because of polution, but because of it's proximity to the silty drop off of the Mississippi River. The food is good, crawfish, shrimp, and oysters, but new England's abundance of relatively cheap lobsters and scallops take the cake, IMO.

Amen to that, if its the same dickens as i think then ive just about had enough of it allPT said:btw STDC - we used to call it D*ckhe*ds on the Strand!
Actually right before. Hurricane Ike destroyed the house I used to live in. In my short 4 years there in the late 87-91 I went through 2 hurricanes, one cat 1 and one cat 2, and one tropical storm that flooded the place so badly that I had to carry my baby son in a plastic bag through waist high water just to get to higher ground. Worst natural disaster of the western hemisphere happened there.Super Turbo Deluxe Custom said:PT said:...my sister spent her honeymoon in Galveston in 1969.
Hopefully before Hurricane Camille.
I would love to see them do such. It would be a great project. Especially Stu Hamm is such a good bassist would be fun to watch evolve.Super Turbo Deluxe Custom said:Moved from another thread to avoid hijacking.
The Hagar/Anthony/Chickenfoot thing keeps coming up, but is not an Apples to Apples comparison. Chickenfoot is a new band with new songs, and new members. I'm sure a few of their old hits and some covers see the stage, but on paper, I wouldn't know what to expect. We want VH to sound like VH, but when you put Satch, Hagar, Anthony, and a Chili Pepper together, you can't help but be curious. There's no control group. And yes, this is a taste thing for me. Sammy, IMO, when left to his own devices has always had a cheese factor about him. I can't drive 55 and Mas Tequila? Come on. That's just a harder rockin' Jimmy Buffet. Sammy was always best in a band setting, whether it be Montrose or VH and now Chickenfoot.
For an accurate comparison, Eddie would have to start a supergroup with Paul Rogers, Stu Hamm, and Lars Ulrich.

now about taste, when you limit your music outlook to your taste you limit your music to a box.
