That's what I take it to mean.  Every Strat I've ever held, regardless of the wood, had a smooth, grain-filled finish as did the fronts and backs of Les Pauls.  So the grain being the "feel" of the instrument I don't quite agree with or understand what you mean.
Step outside the box once in a while, you'd be surprised.... :dontknow:
Me thinking that something does or doesn't need grain filling is one thing, but I don't see how "stepping outside the box" will change the definition of what grainfill is.

Speaking of grain...
Have you ever tried Quinoa?  Quinoa was discovered by the pre-Columbian Andean civilizations.
It has become highly appreciated for its nutritional value, as it's protein content is very high [12% - 18%]
Unlike wheat or rice, which are low in lysine, quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids, making it an usually complete protein source among plant foods.

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha; this is what you get for allowing a Registered Dietitian to be a member of your wacked out geetar society.
[ I am not saying that I am not wacked out, or don't enjoy being a member of a wacked out society]
Just, you reep what you sew...

QUOTING PT
Nope, he's an architect by trade and is working as a resort manager for Kirkwood ski resort at Lake Tahoe.
I lived in Galveston for 4 years in the late 80s. Great food and really nice people in the Houston area.
btw Marko, your GOTY is killer. Great job. Dank u veel for making it.

aha brilliant, well Wassenaar is a lovely place with really nice houses!

I never made it to Galveston, but was planning it.. not so sure now after STD Gary's comments...
I always thought it was a a lovely Victorian seaside town with nice old victorian homes and some kind of shakespear festival...  :sad1:

hahaha, Baron Eugene, did your family regret it after Eddie made the "van" part cool again?

They have "Dickens on the Strand" in the fall.  Everyone is in 19th century character, which means bad English accents.  The fall in TX, as you know, is a crapshoot.  It can be sunny in the 90s and humid, nice, or cold and rainy.  There's a lot of older French architecture there like you would find in New Orleans, as well as the Bishop's Palace and Ashton Villa, but it is lost on most that live there.  It's been my experience that the rest of the country preserves and appreciates their older culture, history and architecture much better than us Texans.  That's one reason Dallas has no identity, IMO.  They would rather tear down an old building and put a Best Buy or Starbuck's in it's place.  There's not many 150 year old+ buildings in TX to begin with, if there were, they've been torn down.  In all honesty, Galveston is probably nicer than I give it credit for.  It's just hard to think of the place where you grew up as being a destination/vacation place, especially when you know it's thuggish side.  That being said, the beaches have little to no waves and the water isn't clear.  Not because of polution, but because of it's proximity to the silty drop off of the Mississippi River.  The food is good, crawfish, shrimp, and oysters, but new England's abundance of relatively cheap lobsters and scallops take the cake, IMO.

My kids were born in Galveston and my sister spent her honeymoon in Galveston in 1969. Our band (formally known as Geezer) plays Balinese. btw STDC - we used to call it D*ckhe*ds on the Strand!

Hopefully before Hurricane Camille.
Actually right before. Hurricane Ike destroyed the house I used to live in. In my short 4 years there in the late 87-91 I went through 2 hurricanes, one cat 1 and one cat 2, and one tropical storm that flooded the place so badly that I had to carry my baby son in a plastic bag through waist high water just to get to higher ground. Worst natural disaster of the western hemisphere happened there.

But the mexican food is absolutely killer.

The Hagar/Anthony/Chickenfoot thing keeps coming up, but is not an Apples to Apples comparison.  Chickenfoot is a new band with new songs, and new members.  I'm sure a few of their old hits and some covers see the stage, but on paper, I wouldn't know what to expect.  We want VH to sound like VH, but when you put Satch, Hagar, Anthony, and a Chili Pepper together, you can't help but be curious.  There's no control group.  And yes, this is a taste thing for me.  Sammy, IMO, when left to his own devices has always had a cheese factor about him.  I can't drive 55 and Mas Tequila?  Come on.  That's just a harder rockin' Jimmy Buffet.  Sammy was always best in a band setting, whether it be Montrose or VH and now Chickenfoot.

For an accurate comparison, Eddie would have to start a supergroup with Paul Rogers, Stu Hamm, and Lars Ulrich.

I steal Metallica mp3s because I can, and because it's a measure of poetic justice.

I would love to see them do such. It would be a great project. Especially Stu Hamm is such a good bassist would be fun to watch evolve.

but as far as calling songs harder rocking jimmy buffet, what about dance the night away, pretty woman and ice cream man, glass houses
now about taste, when you limit your music outlook to your taste you limit your music to a box. If we are discussing pop careers, we need to look at all the careers, not the ones of the guys you like. I mean how much money was wasted on the career of the train wreck called Britney Spears. But she was a huge money making machine. Very successful  and can still fill a joint if she shows up to sing. So could Gloria Estefan. She is touring and selling out places, do we consider her on top of her career?
Music is fickle, and so is a persons career who is in the business. You can be Peter Frampton one day, and playing in a commercial on TV the next. That is all I am saying. And that is the truth. Now About Eddie, someone mentioned his fans want him to play the same old stuff. Do you agree that his career is going down that path?

I was referring to Hagar, not Eddie.  The whole Mas Tequila, Cabo Wabo thing.  It reeks of Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise.  I understand the whole limiting and music arguement, but it's Sammy Hagar's solo career I'm talking about.  Besides, I'm quite familiar with it, I just don't care for it.  The limiting/expanding arguement is best left for including folks like Jaco, Django, Scott Joplin, Freddie King stuff.  People that have impacted genres and that we could learn from.  Is anybody going to learn anything from Sammy Hagar?  Sammy's solo stuff, IMO, is just there for entertainment to decide if one likes it or not.
