The Hijack Thread.

You are correct about Sammy being a extreme influence on musical history. I think he will go down as the Red Rocker, and his main claim ti fame is being in the correct spot at the correct time. But he is a great entertainer, Eddie on the other hand has influenced guitarist with his ability to command the Guitar, He brought tapping out of the Jazz arena into pop rock, his speed and accuracy made the metal guys take notice, and he probably will be rated best for something he is little rated for today, he is one of the best rhythm guitarist I have ever heard. He matches Jimi and Mustaine in ability to pound out rhythms while leading a band onstage and keeping the vibe alive. Few can actually pull it off without another instrument. (I know Dave Normally has a lead player). That is one of the reasons he is so great is he does it alone, fast guitarist who can wail are a dime a dozen, when put to the task of rhythm most fall way short. I think he commands the respect he does not only for being very original doing lead breaks but also because he can drive the rhythm section at the same time, that takes talent.

I didn't think this warranted a new thread, but is the Les Paul considered a signature model?  I mean it's a guitar named after a guy, but there are other artists with signature Les Pauls.  Are those double sigs?

Read those questions in your best Andy Rooney voice.

ok this question begggggggggggggggggggs for some serious exploration, So if you get a Zakk Wylde signature LP  is it really a Zakk Wylde Signature Solid body carved top signature Les Paul guitar? and lets throw in one more wrench into the recipe, what if it were an Epiphone, is that mean it is a non signature because the contract is with Gibson and not Epiphone there by meaning that every LP put out by Epiphone means they are FAKE NON COPYWRITEN RIP OFFS. Or do we like lemmings accept the marketing shit feed of acid laced poisoned Jim Jones Koolaid that the marketing types are pouring down our throats at every chance now even marketing an ad during the first 15 seconds of an Youtube video we open and have infiltrated into using facebook into every form of social networking also using the heroin poisoned needles they have implanted into our basilic veins super glueing them in place to inject the franchised media propaganda of ideas they call marketing and there by homogenizing our thoughts into a gelatinous meld of commercial spewing buying habits and no individuality is allowed.

My biggest *** **** pet peeve is when people call them "front" and "back" pickups. I never know which damn one they're talking about! They're both on the "front" of the damn guitar!

On the topic of pet peeves, humbuckers escape some people as to what they are called or how many pickups they are.  A friend showed me his single hum Kramer once and said it had 2 pickups.  He counted each coil as a pickup I guess.  Another friend calls humbuckers double humbuckers even in an HSS config.  He says, "It's got 2 single coils and a double humbucker."

Yeah, but port and starboard would confuse the heck out of most folks.

And yes - EVH is a masterful three piece rhythm guitarist.

And don't mess with the silicone caulk - it's a pitb to clean up, and good ole 30-06 works just fine.

The Hagar/Anthony/Chickenfoot thing keeps coming up, but is not an Apples to Apples comparison.  Chickenfoot is a new band with new songs, and new members.  I'm sure a few of their old hits and some covers see the stage, but on paper, I wouldn't know what to expect.  We want VH to sound like VH, but when you put Satch, Hagar, Anthony, and a Chili Pepper together, you can't help but be curious.  There's no control group.  And yes, this is a taste thing for me.  Sammy, IMO, when left to his own devices has always had a cheese factor about him.  I can't drive 55 and Mas Tequila?  Come on.  That's just a harder rockin' Jimmy Buffet.  Sammy was always best in a band setting, whether it be Montrose or VH and now Chickenfoot.

For an accurate comparison, Eddie would have to start a supergroup with Paul Rogers, Stu Hamm, and Lars Ulrich.

Lars Ulrich isn't a super anything, bar an arsehole. Ordinary drummer.

Paul Rodgers though is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. I just can't get enough. :>

I missed a chance to see Paul Rodger and Neil Schon together a few years ago... Bad Journey they shoulda called it.

The "Some Kind of Monster" rockumentray shows him in full glory! Fronting up to courthouse steps interviews pleading that Napster has to be stopped so recording artists will get due royalties, while 30 minutes later in the film, he's with his missus in the VIP lounge of an auction house, buying expensive artworks and sipping champagne! :tard:

how can port and starboard confuse guys, they are absolutes, left and right are confusing as they are abstracts, after all what is the left side of a car?

I need 16TB of high speed storage for high resolution video at work.  What do you guys use?

Lars is a monster drummer. Yes he is a douche but that angry little man behind the insane kit is an undeniable force. As far as artists getting their royalties they earned them. How would u like for someone to tell you hey you have earned enough. You don't need anymore? Besides we are probably just expecting way too much out of him. After all he is only a drummer. If he had personality he'd play guitar.

When a drummer has to record their parts all in tiny bits to be edited together by a producer they are, by definition, not a monster drummer.
Overrated doesn't even describe it.

He was selling them for expensive amounts, not buying them, but i do concur he did have quite a bit of fury towards napster.

see Lars Ulrich. The guy gets buckets of paint and just throws them about a canvas and they sell for millions of dollars. And he bitches about something that will probably make him more money. Spotify, although not the biggest earning place for royalties, will earn you something per play. Imagine if Metallica was on Spotify. They would make money. But right now they are making nothing from Spotify. Why? Because they are not there. Bad business move in my opinion.
