Table cloth flake Jazzcaster

I say solid black flat guardto show off paint and not compete.
I think it fits well, but if you wanna try something else; it might almost seem like a too obvious choice, but have you considered black sparkle or silver sparkle?
How about clear?
The matte black might be the answer.
I think I ordered the black pearl guard before the sparkle PG’s were even available from Warmoth. Maybe black sparkle is the answer. Or clear….. I might have to do some artist renditions and try to decide. Like Spud said, it shouldn’t compete with the paint. The black pearl guard competes. Are the pick guard hole patterns pretty consistent from Warmoth? I’d probably better figure it out before I drill.

yes the black guard IS the one hurry act NOW!!

Mate black guard ordered Spud! I also ordered a pickup ring to see how the “no pick guard” option looks. My initial thought is that the tele pickup layout looks weird without a pick guard. But, I am putting that pickup layout on a flake jazzmaster body. So I am already out of the ordinary.

Should have gone clear. You get to show off more of the body and not deal w/ fuggly tele pup rings.
OR just wood mount the Tele neck pup like they did them originally.

Clear is definitely on the table. I also ordered some clear stick on pick guard material. Just for pick scratch protection if I go with no guard. I’ll build up the wood mount option and see how I feel about it. I am also noticing that the pick guard shape doesn’t match the stripe I have around the boarder of the top. So, I am leaning toward the no guard option. I will get everything else completed and see what looks best.

I have all of my goods together to start the wiring/build process. Waiting for pickguards and a ring to see what looks best. I did struggle with the wiring a bit. I had to add a neck pickup cover ground and chose a piece of wire the same as the pickup ground. As careful as I was, I switched the wires. Next time, a different color wire for the cover ground.

I had a few somewhat warm days and wanted to try a vintage amber look on the neck. I think it ended up a little too orange. This was a screaming deal neck and I always wanted to try a pau ferro fingerboard. So, this will probably end up on a different body. My plan is to save up and get something darker to match this guitar. I'm thinking a Jazz master or CBS headstock, roasted maple shaft and wenge finger board (I have that on my bass and love it).
