Hey all,

Got home tonight and behind my door our local UPS guy had left this for me. I am totally blown away by the canary top and the raw canary 59 round back neck. Fingerboard is Pau Ferro, and I am very impressed with it.  It feels really slick.

Body is swamp ash, with clear on the canary and trans yellow on the back and sides. i was a little worried when I ordered the trans yellow back, as I was unsure if it would match the canary top, but they are just visually perfect for each other.  :laughing7:

Anyway here's some pics, I should have her put together by the weekend (time permitting), with all the chrome hardware and the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups.  :guitarplayer2:

:blob7: Yummie indeed  :icon_thumright:

About time something else jumped outta the box .....

Yep the Trans Yellow can be tricky, as I had it on a Mahogany / Goncalo Alves Strat (The Cigar with GK-3)
Was expecting it to be more yellow than it was, but was still happy with it.
Mine was more Honey like.
Yours seem a bit more yellow, probable the swamp ash is lighter couloured than Mahogany.

Sure looks a great match up with the neck too.  :hello2:
I'm using a Quarter pound in one of my Tele builds too.

Look-out .... Tele's are on the move at the moment ..... see what Cagey started  :laughing7:

Bet that hat had some use in the last few days  :icon_biggrin:
Cheers  :occasion14:

Cheers updown. Yeah the old hat got a bit of use. It's been stinking hot in Melbourne. Looking forward to the cool change.

Wow! That's a sharp combination! I never thought of putting Canary on a top, but that's really nice! I like that a lot.

:icon_thumright: Thanks cagey. I wish the idea was my own, but it was mostly inspired by the canary topped strats in the showcase.

Also, i hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season.  :occasion14:
Apologies for the iphone pics. My camera has gone walkabout again (girlfriend). I will try to get some better pics when I'm done.

Who cares where the inspiration came from that is a beautiful guitar.  Definite thumbs up.

Yeah. I am pretty damn happy with how it looks and feels. Hoping it sounds as great, I think it will be a real rocker  :guitarplayer2:

Silly question, does canary change color as it ages? anything special I need to do to preserve it?

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of. The woods that are heavy in tannins such as Walnut, Padouk, Purpleheart, Mahogany, etc. will change on you.

Great, thanks again Cagey

Damn that looks nice.  Not sure about that pickguard though.  How about a tortoise colored pickguard?

No thanks, I have had guitars with tortoise shell pick guards. I think they look OK on solid colors, but on something like this it would look too busy

Thanks. Here's my original concept using the body builder. I think they are pretty close...

Should looks great with these Gotoh height adjustable tuners.  Not sure if I will need string tees. Just in case I have these graphtech ones.

So that is where that body ended up.  I really was looking hard at that and then it disappeared.  Very nice  :icon_thumright:
