Never been a fan of reverse headstocks. Tuners are on the wrong side.

So Gibson Les Pauls have half their tuners on the wrong side?...

Gibson headstocks are symmetrical. There is no reverse.
Then what's this my dear Watson.... :icon_scratch:

I've only owned one reverse-stock guitar in my life. Never again.

I remember that guitar. It got drunk at your Christmas party and puked in the tree, then it stole 40 bucks from your wallet and you never saw it again.

But buddy, its time to heal. to learn to trust again... just Open your heart!

No idea, but it's obviously not a Les Paul.
Your statement was "Gibson headstocks are symmetrical. "

I never said that Gibson headstocks were reversed. But by the "logic" of some here, there's a specific side that tuners are supposed to be on. I disagree.

Now I WILL say the toilet paper belongs OVER the roll, NOT under, and that the steering wheel belongs on the left side of the car, NOT the right.

It's still too soon. The hurt is too deep. And let's not get into what the locking nut did that night...

Your statement was "Gibson headstocks are symmetrical. "

But it was obvious that I was referring to Les Pauls, look at the statement I was responding to.

Gibson headstocks are overpriced. And yes, half the tuners on the symmetrical versions are on the wrong side. I know this because I asked myself "Self, which way should the tuners be oriented?" and got the proper answer: "All in a line on the left side of the headstock, like a Strat." Can't argue with that logic.

Someone should have told Jimi Hendrix that.

No, Jimi's tuners were fine, he flipped a right handed guitar to play left handed. The headstock shape still matched with the body shape.

I'm so sorry I brought that up.

I know your wife still cries at the mention of that locking nut, that monster.

Please forgive me.

HOW do you figure the headstock shape "matches" the body shape?? They are nothing alike.  :dontknow:

The straight side of the headstock is still on the same side as the longer body horn, and the curvy side is still on the same side as the shorter horn.

This is why I love this forum, The useful and correct info it puts out, such as why a headstock matches the body

yea right

so do guys who use Kramer guitars need viagra?

+1. i think the strat headstock was really designed based off of the curves of the body. and a reverse headstock just throws the thing all out of whack. looks really strange i think

It's out there that the headstock was conviently borrowed from an existing shape that looked nothing like, and predated, a Strat.
Bigsby-StratCompare.jpg

It's also thought that Bigsby created their headstock shape by copying the profile of a violin headstock.

So in short, I agree with R6 that the normal orientation looks correct because that's what we're used to seeing.  I do reverses on my basses just because.

HAHA! I found the perfect solution!

Why not take both with a double neck? :toothy10:
One reverse. and one standard. Everybody gets what they want :icon_jokercolor:

I heard the shape was an attempt to imitate the treble clef, and in a way you iiiiiiiiiican see it does.
