Something is missing

Anybody else notice that Brazilian Rosewood is missing from the Showcase and the wood choices for custom build necks?

Apparently Fish and Game is telling Warmoth that they cannot ship Brazilian out of State.  Warmoth has some people working on it but for now they have stopped selling Brazilian anywhere but Washington.

I may be moving.

Now that's BS, if it's already in the US, it's supposed to be available anywhere in the US...

I think we actually need to take over Mexico...If they're gonna live here, we should get the land that goes with them... :dontknow:

I noticed this a few weeks ago but figured all you guys were hip...Regulations are getting oppressive.  It's one of the reasons I snatched 2 showcase deals on Brazillians last year even though I've come to prefer the maple....It's getting scarce.

Somewhere (I think ToneQuest Report) I just read an interview with David Grissom, where he says that the BRW thats left is all scooped in the mids because it's not from old enough trees and such.  He said that he prefers the tone of the Indian Rosewood that's available...man  :dontknow:

Anyone who has the scoop on the sources of Brazillian Rosewood, I would love to hear what the real story behind the story is?

It's all about Control and tyranny. The government is corrupt, and it is not specific to any one political party.

Or possibly it's to do with the protection of an increasingly endangered species. It's the same reason you can't get ivory inlays anymore.

Actually, I think it works the opposite way. When you go to a new place, you take the land off of the people that live there. Trust me, I'm white, we've been doing it for centuries.

I live here in Puyallup, if anyone wants to re-ship anything.  I've lived in the same house for 11 years, and I'm not going anywhere, if you're worried about it.  Just saying, we can work something out if BR is something you HAVE to have from W.

This is the result of implementation of the Lacey Act and impacts far more than just BR.  It also impacts individuals and small businesses as well as major corporations.  Even transporting instruments can be called in to question.  It is not limited to sales.

Here are a few related threads:

Honestly, I'm too worried yet about interstate travel with an existing instrument because that would shut down every major U.S. Tour, not to mention any company that makes or sells a guitar.  I'm doing interstate travel this summer with mine, and I'm also taking an ice chest with alcohol intended for intoxicating purposes across state lines.  Oh...and the Fender logo police too.  Let's not forget about them.

Is non-Brazilian Rosewood effected?  If one orders plain Rosewood, that isn't Brazilian is it?

No, rosewood that isn't explicitly states as Brazilian is assumed to be Indian Rosewood, which is not an endangered species and therefore not a controlled export.
