What does the Moderne look like?

Look at Doug's post on page 1 of this thread...

You mean that over sized bottle opener/boat paddle with Gibson on the headstock? That's hideous!!!

Flipped strat all the way!!!
Dude, that is by far one of the rarest guitars in creation... Even rarer than the '59 Les Paul...or the '58-'59 Explorers...The one in the picture is a  1982 reproduction and even those are rare, only 183 were made in '82....

I can definitely tell you why it's rare!!!!!

Ok, this fact doesn't make the guitar LESS hideous :laughing7:

I don't know...  Call me a sicko [well, you don't really have to], but I kinda dig em'.
Looks like they would be very comfortable to play and I have read comments from people that own the Gibson copies, and they say nothing but good things about them.
I have even read some positive comments from people who own the Epiphone copies.
O.K., I am wacky, but I would like to have one.
:headbang1:

I'll admit the first time I saw it, I thought it was hideous, but as with most people tastes change over the years..... :dontknow:

I would change the controls, and the headstock. Maybe a V headstock.

How about a Fender Marauder?

First of all, go for the Firebird. Thats what I did for my Grade 12 Woodshop project, and it was damn near the best thing I have ever done with my life. I switched it up a bit, (Check my thread about the "Blackbird") but hand carving the body was definitely a highlight. There's not enough good Firebird's out there, and you sound like you want to do it right, so go for it.
Cheers,

PS) Nice pic Max! I haven't seen an up close of the Marauder before, and I have to say, kinda gets me thinking. Has anyone held or seen on of those rare beasts?

I'd say go for the Firebird neck through.

Interesting project... :headbang:

Apparently, there were a few Moderne made with both these pictured headstocks.
Three different total; the Gumby headstock, the Futura Reverse V headstock, and the Flying V Arrowhead headstock.
The story is rather shady if they were made as prototypes or made by employees of Gibson...
I admit, I like the Flying V Arrowhead best.

looks like the firebird is winning. im not talking any other ideas, THESE ARE THE ONES I WILL EVENTUALLY BUY ONE DAY. im knocking two birds out with one lengthy stone. a possible 8 month stone.

smaverdidis,
what i have been trying to tell you is, that once I was 13 too... and I didn't like natural finishes either, and hated teles...
I even considered buying a bright blue or pink HM strat once!  :o
but as you will later find out, your taste too, will mature.... maybe
