One Piece Pau Ferro Vintage/Modern vs Pau Ferro/Pau Modern Neck?

Hi there, I was thinking of getting a neck from Warmoth and am torn between the options:

1. One Piece Pau Ferro with Vintage/Modern Construction

Or

2. Pau Ferro Neck and Fretboard with Modern Construction

Its going to go on an MIM Alder Strat Body.

I have no issues with the side-adjust on the Modern (and think it looks quite nice actually). Would the One Piece have more sustain/ring more in my hands or would it be the other way around because of the heavier Truss Rod in the Modern?

I know the Modern will be more stable but tonally how will the two differ?

I seriously doubt you'd notice any difference at all. Pau Ferro is a pretty dense wood, so it doesn't absorb much energy. Makes it bright and articulate, and provides for good sustain. Good thing, too, since it's unlikely you could get a one-piece in that wood. In fact, Pau Ferro isn't even listed for a neck wood in the builder right now, although you can get it for the fretboard. Maybe if you call and beg and give 'em a bottomless credit card number..., :laughing7:

You might want to consider getting a Pau Ferro fretboard on a Roasted Maple neck. Would feel/sound the same, be a half pound lighter, and cost a lot less.

Well... take it from me, calling and begging can work.  I agree with Cagey on all counts, except for one thing.  I have two pau ferro/pau ferro necks.  Specifically bass necks.  Pau ferro as a neck meat is FABulous.

And, I also have a couple bass necks with roasted maple.  I like my PF just a bit more (mostly visually), but they burnish up just as smooth.

Unfortunately, being a bass player, I can't address your questions on tonal differences in construction types.

Thanks for the replies, guys. If I'm honest, I really wanted a Pau Ferro neck mostly cause I wanted it to look like an All-Rosewood Neck.

But the real reason I'm getting a neck is since I wanted a better neck profile and frets (59 Roundback to make it feel like an Ibanez Artcore AS73 which was AMAZING for my hands to play and tall, thin 6105 Stainless Steel frets). Thought I'd throw the PF in the mix since I play mostly with my fingers (ie without a pick)  on a rosewood fretboard so PF would help with the attack and treble side of things AND look kickass.

Most gear related stuff is expensive in my country anyway so I have a habit of saving up. Maybe I'll try that "begging for it" route and see how it goes.
