No redesigned Firebird?

When Warmoth announced they'd be discontinuing the Gibson shapes, they said there would be redesigned "non-infringing" replacements.  They replaced the LP with the "Regal" and the SG with the Diamondback - Nice!  But I am SURE Warmoth's Firebird and Flying V builder pages also promised updated designs.

I e-mailed Warmoth, a while back, to check on the progress of the new Firebird.  They told me it would be available in a few months.  Well, months passed...  I e-mailed them again.  This time, they said: "To my knowledge nothing is in the works in regards to an updated Firebird or V bodies at all. If….big IF…..they do make an appearance or comeback then they’d be listed on the website. I hope that helps and have a great day!"

:dontknow:
Were you guys under the impression there would be new Firebird and V bodies?  Or am I just crazy?

I don't think they gave any concrete information as to exactly what their plan would be.

Its a private company and they make the decisions that they deem are best to increase their profit and bottom line.  As such I think we all were in a holding pattern to see what the new shapes would be.

That does not mean that there won't be a redesigned Firebird in the future.  We'll just have to wait and see.

I never liked the original Gibson Flying V that much (being big and bulky) but that one looks a little better to me  :)

Almost liking this one more than the V-R shape, which I would like if it only was more beveled like actual Rhoads guitars

As Wolff05 pointed out in another thread, here you go:

I don't like it as much as the original, but its a step in the right direction.  Perhaps the redesigned Firebird is imminent.

Whoa, how did I miss that?

Agreed.  I liked their original V a lot more.  This new "Switchback" V isn't my style.  On the other hand, I always thought the original Firebird was too stubby.  I hope Warmoth redesigns it, and elongates the points, like 2/3 Firebird + 1/3 Explorer.

^^ Then ESP would probably sue them again for copying their Phoenix outline, because that's exactly what you're describing.
