I just wanted to update this thread. My wife and I are currently screening candidates in Ukraine and Colombia for them to receive the guitar. Some look promising but I want to make sure that a) the person has no means to build a guitar like this him/herself, b) the person will play the guitar, c) the person is not hateful (i.e. racist, antisemitic or anything of that kind).

Will keep you updated. Just wanted to let you know that this has, by no means, been forgotten. @vernschrock @aarontunes @Rick

Very hard to answer this without getting political. But on a very basic level - Germany is a social welfare state (lightyears more social than the US for instance), hence it's almost impossible to find truly underprivileged people here.

Alternate idea: Build up a guitar and donate it to a fundraiser, or to a kid who can't afford a decent instrument.

I did this twice last year and both recipients were quite blessed as it served a tangible need.
