Body is a carved-top solid Alder part with a metallic black cherry finish. Not too thrilled with the finish, to be honest. It's a good job - no problem there - but this isn't what I'd call "metallic". This is what I'd call "metal flake". Metallic finishes look like metal. This looks like a carnival ride. But, I suppose it'll grow on me.

Neck is an Afra over Afra Warmoth Pro w/ compound radius, gold 6100s, 1 11/16" nut width, Standard Thin profile and a Warhead headstock. That's a really nice part. Very pleased with that all around. Wonder why more people don't order that wood? It's a dense grain without being too heavy and it's a nice color if you wanna go light on the fretboard but don't want finished Maple.

Ooooooooooooh!  Aaaahhhhhh!

Nice one Cagey.  I was wondering who would snag that black cherry bod - glad it was a forumite.

And as an aside, I see you are now the owner of TWO telecaster-esque bodies.  I blame myself.

Nice! I'll be really interested to hear your thoughts on the Afra. I've been thinking about doing an Afra/Afra or an Afra/Macassar Ebony for my next build.

It's true. And you should.

Never thought the day would come...

It'll probably be a couple weeks until it's done, as I'm still waiting on some other suppliers. But, I'll tell ya - it feels fantastic! It's comparable to Canary, but somewhat denser and straighter in the grain and slightly lighter in color. They'd be easy to mistake for one another.

If you find yourself getting bored with the carnival-ride finish, call me first.  If I have the spare shekels, I'll take 'er off yer hands.

Speaking of forumites, this one is gonna be a real group grope. It's gonna have Dangerous Neckwear, a Scartozi bridge, one of Ken's Roadhouse pickups, and of course, my own tender ministrations for fretwork, wiring, assembly and setup. To hell with building tribute guitars inspired by famous people - this'll be a tribute to the members of the Unofficial Warmoth Forum. I only wish I could've gotten a Tonar finish as well. But, we'll see. If this metal flake doesn't grow on me, maybe that'll happen after all.

I think it will grow so much that you won't be able to keep it under the wardrobe anymore ;) <grin>

It's a beauty! The dark neck matched really well the body!

Actually, I've never been a fan of metallic finishes, but that one could change my opinion of them.  The black cherry looks really rich.

From some of the sunkissed highlights, it looks pretty kool. Bet it looks even better at the right angles.... :kewlpics:

That looks mighty fine, Cagey. At first glance I thought it was your black tele.
I'm not sold on the Afra yet, but it'll probably look better with the metally bits attached.

You're gonna hate the metally bits. But, if you don't have an Afra neck yet, you might consider one. It's a very nice hunk of lumber.

Nice Cagey  :icon_thumright:

Interesting Combo you have going there.

I'm guessing this is having the Acoustic Bridge on it ?  :icon_biggrin:

Thanks. Yes, it's going to get one of those units Scartozi came up with. I'll have to drill some new mounting holes, but I think I can handle that.

A curiousity question.  Was this thing originally routed with the standard Tele routing and then you had them route for a humbucker?  I ask because of the notch at the back of the bridge pickup.  I'm also curious whether that would not be convenient for someone wanting to mount something like the Roland GK-3.
