maple on mahogany

Does anyone know if there's any reason why we cant use maple fretboards on mahogany necks?

Sorry, I don't know, but you see quite a few walnut necks with maple boards in the showcase and the builder doesn't allow that either so it's worth asking them.

I believe it was that Maple is unstable on other woods, but I don't remember anymore.
