I know Les Paul was nuts about these things, but I really haven't found a whole lot online going into detail about them. Has anyone on here played around with them in the past, and if so, are there really any differences/complaints/praises compared to the models we're all used to?

Thanks!

Low output pickups are fantastic. They have so much more airyness to them and the whole guitar really comes through. You dig in and it feels like your pushing them and overdriving the pickups. They sqeal and piss and moan. :guitaristgif:

Paul was gaga over low impedance for both the lack of hum, and the fidelity they offered.  Low impedance pickups are like low impedance mics, and use an XLR type of connector and wiring (as found on the LP Personal and LP Recording).  The low impedance of the pickup also makes it less colorful.  Thats something that died in the wool PAF folks would loathe, but Les thought that uncolored tone was better, and allowed the musician the opportunity to shape the tone envelope as he/she wanted.  He played with low impedance pickups on his personal guitars right up to his death, but also did a few guest appearances with more recognizable Les Paul guitars (one or two TV commercials, some other promo stuff).
