I can almost say, this is the best stuff warmoth has EVER done for me.

And the piece du resistance:

they have nearly the same weight, 3.3 kilo's. I'll be loading them up with gotoh tuners, gotoh floyd (with big brass L-shaped block) and alumitone pickups. All in all, they won't be more than 4.3 kilo's, which is superlight for a les paul, especially with the fatback neckshape!

yes, I'm a happy camper :)

oh and I'll be using purpleheart and bubinga for the backplates and trussrodcover.

the quilt mapletop LP will be purplemist burst, and will get star trek; starship Enterprise inlay (all the enterprises from the entire franchise, including Deep Space Nine, USS Voyager, USS Defiant and Enterprise NX 01). the koa top will get the insignias from some species; starfleet,, vulcan, klingon, ferengi, bajoran, romulan, 'federation', borg, dominion, cardassian.

I'm thinking of having a headstock-inlay too. in star-trek font: Ex Astris Scientia.

Gee for a second there I thought I was seeing double  :icon_scratch:
Then it all dawned on me  :sign13:
2 guitars in one hit !!

Wow ... they both look great already, as is. The wood sides on the 2nd one looks cooooooooooooooool  :icon_thumright:
I'm not a star trek fan But Hey ... i'll reserve my judgement on that till the end.
All the best for the twins  :occasion14:
Updown  :blob7:

Nice!

Are you trying to top the 2 you just got from across the channel?

haha, I'm not trying to top the 2 UK guitars, I'm trying to compliment them. but in all fair honesty, I do think that these guitars will be better ;)

and yeah, I always do my guitars in twins. a strange characterflaw i suppose ;)

Warmoth, not just the company but Annie and Ken were AWESOME in this build. I have to express my gratitude towards them, and especially Eric Wylie. That guy knew and understood exactly what I was thinking, and translated it to the buildcrew.

one strange thing caught my eye. The heels of the necks have a sequential stamp, 475 and 476, followed by 'SS'. both burned in the heel, just like the turtle itself. any idea what that is?

the bodies are also numbered, 493 and 494.

about the star trek thingy. I always wanted to have some thing star-trek on a guitar, and these parts just lend themselves perfectly for that job. I decided to do it for real this time, not just talk about it. it means I have to postpone ordering the hardware with at LEAST a month, but thats fine by me.

Hey - what's the wood on the back of, er the one there... you know the one in pic 7 and 8.

You're working up quite a collection of gorgeous Les Pauls! You're going to have to call your insurance guy and get your policy updated <grin>

Very kewl Orf, nice set of Pauls, but if they're going to have Floyds, why are there no nut shelves on the necks... :dontknow:

Those fretboards are macassar ebony :)

and about the nut; I'll be using graphtech nuts, no locking nut. I like the feel and tone of floyds (without toplock) and I like the finetuners, but I don't like that toplock, so I'll be using graphtech nuts with locking tuners. kinda like the wilkinsin-setup, but only a bit better (imho).

You sir have one of the coolest guitar collections I have ever seen and it just keeps getting better.  Very nice.

I always get a little tingly inside when Orpheo puts up a Thread titled like this.  :headbang:

You just know he wouldn't settle for plain grained Alder or Basswood..... :o

Very inspiring Orpheo ... looking forward to seeing these babies develop  :headbang:

Does the Floyd stay in tune with that setup? Any problems with strings falling out of the nut when you drop the trem all the way until they flop around?
