Yes, seems like it will need a serious concrete on the foundation :laughing7:

That's is Burl maple (Spalted isn't that far away too)...
Yip, spalted usually does too, but I was rather lucky with mine. Mine wasn't as spongy as most spalted is, and the bits that were softer were around the edges that got cut off when the body shape was cut out... :icon_biggrin:

My next (3rd) build. Would be underway right now, but somebody snagged the body that was in the screamin deals section. Same body used for the pics. Would have been the dual EMG humbuckers or H/S/S in black.

This is HOT!!!!!  :headbang1:

A couple more. These two pics are being built as we speak.
The Amber Strat will be a carved top Soloist with the Warmoth headstock, no middle pup, black hardware.
The blue Tele will not have the F hole and will have the Gotoh Tele HB bridge, chrome hardware..

Here are two builds I plan to do in the future, funds permitting (the LP will have the Neil Young pickup setup):

Reminds me of the $160 dollar Guitar fetish thinlines ;);)

Firebird mini humbucker in the bridge position, P90 in the neck position. Mine won't be from the '50s obviously, I'm thinking Kent Armstrong at the moment but I'd really like chrome covers for both pickups. I'll get my regular Lester needs covered elsewhere, hehe!

Edit: This was a reply to Fernando's post, didn't realise others would bite so quickly! Neil's Old Black is a '53 Standard goldtop, painted black by a previous owner.

Was is a Standard or a Custom?  The one I'm thinking of has block (not trapezoid, and statrting at 1st fret) inlays and trapezoidal headstock inlay on headstock, consistent with the custom.

Doesn't sound like Old Black then. Here's a Wikipedia entry for it (!), and here's the most extensive fan site on Neil's gear that I know of. Standard all the way!
...ehrm, sort of  :headbang:

Thanks Kboman, I thought on that LP but I guessed that could be a custom setup or wiring that I didn't know :laughing7:

No problem :)
I think the mini switch he has in there too is used to bypass the tone/volume controls. No source on that though, only memory (I've seen it referred to as a coil tap too, but that sounds unlikely).

No offense kboman, but I severely dislike Mr. Young. Not a great musician in my book, kinda like Bob Dillion, never understood people's fascination with the likes of those two...
