Guitar #4 by BlueTalon

This is my Warmoth Strat-Jazz, consisting of both a Warmoth neck and a Warmoth body.  The body was finished in gloss black by the good people in Puyallup.  The neck shaft is unfinished, and Formby's tung oil was used on the headstock.

Alder body
Bubinga neck
Wenge fretboard and thumb-rests

Schaller BML tuners
Schaller 463 bridge
Schaller strap-lock pins
Threaded neck inserts
Hipshot string retainer
D'Addario rounds

Fender Super 55 split-coil hum-bucking pickups (2 neck, 1 bridge)
3x 500K individual pickup concentric V/T controls
1x 500K master concentric V/T control

Turnstyle 6-position rotary tone selector switch, with the following selections:
#1 Full manual control over all pickups
#2 Precision bass tone preset
#3 Jazz bass (both pickups on, slightly offset) tone preset
#4 Rickenbacker tone preset
#5 Thunderbird tone preset
#6 Overdrive tone preset

The bridge pickup is in the normal position (not the 70's reposition).  The pickups are spaced 2" edge-to-edge.  That puts the neck pickup about 1-2 inches closer to the neck than a Precision pickup or a normal Jazz neck pickup.  The sound is bright and crystal clear.  All volume controls are no-load.  All tone controls attenuate the high end, they don't truncate it -- with all tone controls at max, the tone is still very usable (doesn't sound like mud at all).

You will notice there is no 5-way switch.  When I have manual control over the pickups, I can have any pickup combination.  For example, I can have the bridge pickup on full, and the other two pickups at 80%.  That sort of thing is impossible with the 5-way switch.

Enjoy!  (And vote for me!  :-D

Guitar #14 by fngrpikr

This is my first electric build so it was a bit of an experiment.
The neck is a Warmoth CBS Strat Vintage Modern Maple with Indian Rosewood board.
Fat profile, cream face dots, white side dots, white corian nut and vintage tuners.
Neck is shimmed for the Gotoh tune-o-matic bridge and stop tail piece.
Nitro finish with amber toner.
I drew the logo myself on my iPad with a program called procreate and had a guy I found online make the decal for me.
The body is home made out of a single slab of Black Walnut and is obviously based on a Jazzmaster.
Nitro "blackburst" finish on the body also.
Because of the weight factor of the Walnut I planed it down to about a third thinner than normal thickness.
I cut the pick guard out of an old piece of 1960s formica on a scroll saw.
The pick ups were extracted from a really crappy 1960s Japanese guitar and sound amazing in my humble opinion.
Three way selector and volume and tone knobs. Non traditionally located Strat jack in the pick guard.
Soldered it all myself and it kept me off the streets for a month or so.
All in all I had a blast and look forward to starting another one.

AARRRGH!  The website doesn't like my photos!  Resubmitting...

It wasn't a problem with your photos, it was a problem with our GOM photobucket account.  Fixed now.

Bagman--
I've noticed you're partial to the Planet Waves auto-trims (bête noir & quty pie). I'm considering them for a strat project... what makes these your preference?

I tried them on spec for Quty Pie, and actually had them in hand for Bete Noire before I got Quty Pie back.  I think they were priced a little lower than Sperzels.  I like 'em just fine, I reckon, but don't necessarily prefer them over Schallers or Sperzels.

Edit:
For pure aesthetics, I really like these locking Grovers on my green mahogany tele:

6614763005_e763178252_b.jpg

Those locking Grovers are also a good choice for those who have standard Grovers already installed. They're a drop-in replacement.

They're a 10mm part - they drop in for Gotohs as well.

Edit:  Not sure if the anchor screw matches the Gotoh, so you might have some minor drillwork and/or plugging to do if you want from Gotoh to Grover or vice versa.

I've got the non-locking Grovers on my VIP.  They tune quite well (when I need them).  If I was putting them on a non-Floyd I'd get the locking version in a heartbeat.

Hey Keanu - we were kinda going steady there, then I didn't see you for a month and I thought you dumped me - but you're back! We missed you. :)

Seriously, it's a fine axe, thanks for your patience and persistence.

Peace,
