It's here!!! (Hollow Korina Strat)

I think it looks great with the black pickguard and gold pickups, also I like it better when the knobs are spaced further apart. The strat volume and tone 1 control thing is too cluttered.

I agree, unless you're putting a DPDT swith in the tone2 position for coilsplitting

I'm loving the black with gold accents (the tortoise would ruin it!)
You should get some black graphtech saddles for the gold wilkinson to tone that down a little....

Hmmm maybe piezo ?? Wonder if I can kick that can down the road until after completion?

go with the tortoise, but scrap the gold and go with chrome hardware

That's not happening. I'm not one of these 'Oohh shiney! Gold is bling!' types. But I picked it for THIS guitar because of the color tones. Chrome would just look wierd in the middle of all these dark earth tones.  Korina. Wenge. Ebony. Black. Chrome?!

Ordered my hardware for the body end this morning. I ended up getting everything from GFS after some trepidation and research, as I wanted the best chance of the gold plate mtaching up and I was getting the pickups there.

I was going to get both pickguards, but last night they had tortoise (that's where I got that pic) but today they didn't. Shipping was reasonable I thought. Until I realized I forgot to order my switch and it was going to cost as much to order the switch as the rest of the parts order. (Almost) BTW, do Tele 3-way switches take strat switch knobs?

It's a sign. The tortoise would have looked fine, but would have been in competition with the body for attention. Black was the way to go. Plus, the black will make the gold "pop". Be sure to get gold pickguard/pickup/switch mounting screws to match the bridge/pickups/jackplate/knobs. The theme has to be consistent.

This is gonna be one for the gallery.

Thanks -  I was hoping, but its also my first, so... but have you seen its solid sister in the GAS thread? Not as busy/dark and a just a taste of orange too. Not that I'm jealous or having regrets, substance over pretty. I saw it but really really wanted a chambered body. I ordered black pg screws, everything else is gold. I wanted the fasteners to blend rather than pop like the hardware. But they're cheap and easily replaced.

The sister looks good, too. But, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Unless, of course, it's a bushy bird. Then, maybe it's worth three. If you like a good bush <grin>

The cat certainly doesn't think so... I took some sliced turkey with me on a walk, to see if I could entice her into walking around a bit more. The bird in the hand is already dead and cooked. The birds in the bushes are L.I.V.E. and oh so much more interesting.

That's what she said! <grin>

It's like the guy said in Jurassic Park: T-Rex doesn't want to be fed - she wants to hunt!

zactly! and back to the guitar...I  guess I need to quit playing photoshop and messing around on forums now... Always scarey doing the first irreversible thing.

Cant wait to see the guitar start to come together. I know there was talk about the gold bridge so I gotta throw in my .02. I think a black bridge with gold saddles would look pretty cool, of course so would gold bridge and black saddles.....as someone had mentioned before. Actually, gold bridge with black saddles and gold saddle height screws and intonation screws :icon_thumright:

Ok, I realize not everyone is me (thank God) - but I think this would look really, REALLY cool with the
Ruthenium/Gold combo I've seen on Schallers website. Yes, its expensive, yes its a PITA to acutally
get - but I think it would really look badass on this project!
