Hey guys, so I'm looking into getting a new neck for my VIP, Not that there's anything wrong with the current one, but the current one is Gibson scale, and I want a Fender scale one, since I play in Drop C 90% of the time, and it makes more sense. My current neck is compound radius, but I'm going to get a straight radius this time around.

Considering the 510 has a 13.7" (roughly) radius, would a 16" radius be able to set up properly, or would I be better off getting a 14" or 13.5" radius? I definitely like flatter necks, for some of the progressive stuff I've been playing lately.

Thanks in advance  :headbang:

If it were me in that scenario I'd go with straight 14" radius. The differences are small, and things would likely set up just fine with any of the measurements you mentioned, but my OCD would be pinging too loudly for me to ignore.

Okay, cool.
Yeah, I feel like my OCD would slowly eat away at my brain as well. I'll go with 14" then!

For this neck, I'm going with all 3A flame maple (same headstock) with black binding and black nightswan inlays, and moonglow side dots. I think that'll be a nice contrast! (Black tuners as well) :headbang5

You can always trim the saddles on the bridge to match the radius.

I wouldn't use a mismatched bridge... I dont get why some companies release guitars with mismatching stuff...

My Jackson RR24 came from factory with stock FRT-2000 Floyd which means 12" radius I think... while the fretboard is a 12"-16" compound. The middle strings was way high! Can't believe it left the factory like that.

Upcoming Schecters have 14" radius on fretboards, while locking nuts are 10" or 12"... who thought that would be a good idea? There's Gotoh locking nuts with about 360mm radius (ca 14") so there is a fix for the perfectionist. But still...
