Anyone ever seen the Satin Black that Warmoth offers???

Im wanting Black on my Strat, but I see they offer a Satin Black as well as their Gloss Black, ( plenty of pics of that ) so now Im curious, what does the Satin look like???

as usuall, the Warmoth guy's are right on top of it, I submitted this after 6:30 PM and recieved an answer not the following buisness day but at 7:40PM  ....ya gotta love this place...

here's the response to my question with the letter I wrote them.....guess that summs that up.   ....Thanks Guy's

Chris,

Its an easy question to answer – satin and flat are the same thing – no gloss – not what you’re looking for. Order the gloss black and it’ll match the gloss pickguard.

We hope to hear from you again soon.

Subject: Satin Black paint as opposed to Gloss Black

I am planning on a Black Strat, my question is what is the difference between Satin Black compared to Gloss Black???

Do they both have a shine to them or is the Satin similar to a flat black ?

I know you offer a flat black pickguard and its considerably different from your regular black pickguard ....would these be silmilar in that respect or is the Satin a more velvety type Black.  ( I use these as a reference as I have seen both of these).

I plan to use the regular Black pickguard you guys offer, and want it to blend well with that. Though Satin Black has picked my interest. Thus the questions.

I Like the Idea of Satin if its still got a sheen to it but not if it is flat in color.

My appologise if this is a tough question to answer.

Found one they call Matte Black...probably Satin, definantly not Gloss.....

I made sure both bodies were of the same wood...(alder) ....so the examples were accurate.  I don't see a Matte Black finish offered so Im assuming that this is the Satin Black ....

Its called:  Black Gloss and Black Satin in the finish catagory when searching.

Matte Black:    http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseItem.aspx?i=ps4201&Body=2&Path=Body

Gloss Black:   http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseItem.aspx?i=ps4064&Body=2&Path=Body

basically, gloss can act as a mirror, while matte would really be more like that one ESP Eclipse

ESP Gloss Eclipse http://www.espguitars.ru/images/guitars/large/ESP_Eclipse-I_CTM_FR_GBK.jpg

you can definitely see the difference. i prefer gloss, myself.

All three of my Warmoth builds are matte finishes.  It does become slightly glossy with wear aroung the forearm contour, but I don't mind guitars looking like they've been played.  I prefer them over gloss finishes because they feel more "worn in" and don't show every little fingerprint.  The few gloss finishes I've had, they always looked dirty, and I spent more time cleaning them than playing them it felt like.
