Gary Moore has died

When i first picked the guitar up about 2 1/2 years ago, I was at a friends house and he said 'you have to check out this guy playing a f*ing unbelievable cover of 'Red House' on the Fender Strat Pack DVD' - and I did. He didn't even know his name, but I became a huge fan right then and there. That was what I wanted to sound like.

'Still Got the Blues' kicks major ass.

I think I have a Les Paul build in my future as a Gary Moore tribute...

I vaguely recall him from guitar magazines, and his name would come up in someone's influences list now and again

According to a couple of news sources, Gary had a heart attack in his sleep. This was stated by the coroner, and a more detailed report will be released after tissue tests are conducted. It sort of reminds me of how legendary DJ Wolfman Jack died. He was about the same age. Sadly, the Wolfman had his heart attack just as he was in the process of giving his wife a hug after being on the road for a few weeks promoting a book he wrote.

Judging from the videos here, Gary was never a lean fellow... And hey, dying while embracing the one you love? There are worse ways.

wow - that freaks me out.  It's kinda like saying you've never heard of Santana...

Santana?  :icon_scratch:
He brought me presents when I was younger, I think.

Are you sure its not the red fella with the horns, holding a pitchfork ??

I've heard of Santana.  He did that song Smooth around 1999.  (seriously hadn't heard of him before then)
Since then I've had the chance to hear a variety of his works.

Although I know Santana very well, I have to say I'm not a big fan outside of black magic woman. He just doesn't appeal to me. Oh, I think he's a fantastic guitarist, just not my cup 'o tea.

I agree with you, in that I actually don't like Santana at all. However, being a guitarist, I've heard & know about tons of other guitarists that I like AND don't like.

well the difference is admiting talent
those that do not admit it are denying to themselves not others
I have heard a lot of guitarist I may not loke their genre of music, but I would never say they were not a talent, and others just their talent is why I will listen to them as it really is not my genre.

I guess I'd heard Black Magic Woman on the radio before. Never knew it was Santana
I'm 30, btw.

Cagey, that was a pretty good clip.  I always find out about things late.
