FINISHED! Padouk canary 3p90 7/8 tele halfmoth

I have 2 star stones, one a sapphire such as that and another is a ruby, I have either of them in pinky rings

Yeah, the French are a pain in the shorts. They brought us words like "carburetor", which roughly translated means "don't phuque with it". Why the language still exists is a mystery to me. I mean, who speaks it besides the French and a few dozen self-important Canadians? Learn a real language, fer crissakes! Preferably one that nearly everybody on Earth speaks to some degree, like English <grin>

I've got a rough star ruby, I'm saving it for when a polished, cut gem is something I may need.

I do.

But really guys, you're absolutely right.
I should have told my parents not to speak French to me. Parents shouldn't speak their native tongue to their kids if it isn't American, right?
Actually, I should have chosen different birth parents - scratch that I should have chosen a different country to be born in.
That way I wouldn't have to be proud of being bilingual, and have less job opportunities in Canada, and have a narrower cultural background.
Let's all be American!

Anyways, the french...
Who could like people who make guitars like this:

What tripe!

I would never be caught dead playing any of those.

I love how Frenchie lovers always get so defensive, as if we're too dumb to see the benefits of speaking another language... while totally ignoring the downsides to the French culture which have caused the stereotypes to begin with.

DERAIL ASIDE

That's looking awesome!

Okay, now THIS is dead sexy. Not hugely practical, but the lines are beautiful.

Im pretty sure that that actually is a pickguard. You can see that part of it is much more matte than the gloss black body. The part in between the big think wire and small wire.

Thanks for the compliment!

I would love to be educated on the downsides of the francophone culture(s). Also I'd like to be educated on what I should do next time someone tells me "my" culture is redundant? Because displaying patriotism seems to be reserved for americans, and is ridiculed if anyone else does it.

I love you guys, you have the best advice and the least snootyness, but you've put me in a lose-lose situation.

I can see this thread going to hell in a handbasket in a hurry.

You're right - not my intention.

I'll be sanding and wipe-on-poly again today, so I'll post pictures later.

Sorry man, wasn't my intention to start a bashing against the French. If your French good for you, you have every right to display your patriotism for your lineage.

The guitar is turning out to be pretty awesome.... :icon_thumright:

It is indeed a pickguard, but it's (a) quite small, and (b) it's not smooth - if you're a player who strums pretty far past the strings, you could get hung up in the scaffolding, so to speak.  But very very pretty, nevertheless.

For me it was the black top/natural sides combo, and that pickup - wow. What a looker.

I agree - the black/natural contrast is really nice - makes me want to go order a bound-edge mahogany Tele body, paint the top black, do the back in a clearcoat.
