FINISHED! Padouk canary 3p90 7/8 tele halfmoth

Or an LP, spruce on mahogany, natural masked binding, Charlie christian in the neck, '59 in the bridge, fishman transducer archtop bridge...
Ok, maybe I'm getting a little carried away here.

I agree - the black/natural contrast is really nice - makes me want to go order a bound-edge mahogany Tele body, paint the top black, do the back in a clearcoat.
Do eeeeeet.... :icon_thumright:

Just priced it (as a carve-top, natch) on the body builder, and that's EIGHT BENJAMINS, yo!  Not this year.  Although I could save a few bucks and finish it myself... and then send it to Tonar to fix my eff-ups, and incur the charge after all.

Maybe when the kids are out of school and off the payroll... in 8 years or so.

Haven't you heard?  The market sucks.  I could never get back what I've already invested.  They're like Warmoths that way - really nice, but nobody wants to pay top dollar for used goods.

Damn the luck....

Maybe I should have thought about it before I added another employee to my payroll?

More children = less warmoths? They should warn people!

So the finish wasn't curing in my garage - never mind that it's -30C with the wind here in Calgary, and 25cm of snow.
Moved into my basement, thankfully wipe-on-poly doesn't smell.
A couple of cycles of sand-wipe later:

Having some mild pangs of regret at not having filled... Feels like it's too late now...
The CA glue and the foam brushes are still on the way though. Prolly for another project.

How do I know when to stop wiping on the poly? I'm at like 2 sealer + 2 ineffective (cold) full str + 4 effective full str.
Is there going to be a sign?

My latest creation: Beatrice, 7lbs 7oz. Mom and baby are doing well.

Huge congratulations.  All you have ever done is nothing compared to fatherhood.  Bravo.

Congratulations! Quite a life-changer, that one.

Were you there in the birthing room? If so, were you able to keep from passing out? I remember when my son was born, the nurses were impressed. They said even with the prep classes, only about 1 out of 3 guys made it through the whole ordeal. Not a pretty sight, by any stretch of the imagination. Anybody who says childbirth is a "beautiful thing" has obviously never witnessed one, except maybe on TV where they deliver a perfectly clean 6 month old infant with no tearing or afterbirth. In real life, it's more akin to gutting a deer or the first 15 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan", but with more blood, gore, and cussing <grin>

Hehe! Yeah, well. What can I say? Childbirth is an ugly, violent, bloody process that years ago could easily end in death, and that's all there is to it. Luckily for the species, the results are generally positive.

  :laughing11: too funny!

Yes I was there, no I didn't pass out. Second birth for my wife and I together, 52nd birth I assisted/delivered myself (*shrug*). Childbirth is very  very rarely sane, and never elegant. And I love TV births, because like you say - no blood, no amniotic fluid, no stool. Clean, happy baby - no screaming. But it went relatively well for my wife - we arrived at the hospital at 6:30, delivered 15 minutes after being fully dilated (7:27) and were out of the hospital 12hrs later. No tear, no complications... Can't really ask for better than that.

Thanks for the congrats guys, I'll put up a picture soon.

Apparently it takes 180 000$ to raise one child. THAT'S LIKE 180 FULLY FITTED WARMOTHS!!! SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME!

I've got a silly grin on my face since Monday, though.

Congrats Martin! Now make sure she plays guitar! Or at least piano. :icon_thumright:

aw that is great!! It reminds me of the days that my kid was still cute  :icon_biggrin:

Congratulations!! :)

Still have to do final setup.

Re-routed my neck pocket to the right depth - for some unknow-to-me reason I had done 9/16 instead of 5/8ths.

The action is horrific.
Intonation.
The 3 wires are coming out of the hole for the jack cup while I decide how I'm going to wire my 6 way switch. Then soldering and jack cup.
Shielding the cavities and grounding the bridge.
Strap pins.
String tees.
Pickup heights.

Ok - still quite a bit to do - but it was very rewarding to be able to play a guitar I half built and assembled all by myself.
And it sounds (IMHO) great.

Haven't played it plugged in yet - so don't ask.

I'll try to take some pool (or in my case snowy mountain) shots too.
