FINISHED! Padouk canary 3p90 7/8 tele halfmoth

Looks great. Is it a perspective thing, or are those over-sized knobs? Also, how do you switch pickups?

They're from W, so it must be a perspective thing. The bottom knob is a 4P6T rotary switch from stewmac, and the volume knob is also a push-pull pot. I'll actually test pickup combinations before I wire. I have come up with maybe 16 different options for wiring. We'll see how it goes. I have a pretty shitety amp too...

Edit: it's a 7/8ths - that may have a lot to do with perspective, I think!

Scary intense wiring question here:

Thanks for any help!

All that's left is final setup and strap buttons - can't find my Vernier in my mess...

You can see the little bit of curl in this piece.

Final wiring sounds great, decided on N, M (OOP with rail), Bp90, NBp90 in series, NBp90 in parallel, NMBp90 in series. The PP adds the rail to any of the combinations.

The options sound great and have little redundancy. NMB sounds terrible clean, but makes that distortion wail!

Thanks for all your advice!

(will think about re-sanding and finishing in gloss with the grain filled, maybe later on...)

Good lord that's fantastic!  Amazing job!

Am I understanding correctly: it's a full scale Tele neck, with a 7/8th sized body, right?

Please tell me there's a pic of the inside of the control cavity!  That rotary knob & push/pull combo has got to be nuts!

Yes, it's a 25.5 neck on a 7/8ths body. I basically took the template on TDPRI and put it into photoshop. Then I shrank the image by x 0.875, then I re-pasted a full size image of the bridge and neck portion on top (tweaked the cutaways a bit).

I took it apart for you.

Do remember that I widened the cavity under the top of the guitar:

Otherwise the switch would NEVER have fit - it has to be a little angled to not butt up against the end of the rout, but that makes it too wide to fit readily in the cavity.

The other thing is that I didn't cut the leads from the pickups AT ALL since I wasn't 100% sure they would be staying in this configuration or even in this guitar. AND I shielded the leads from the p90's with black heatshrink because some of the wiring options are in series.

The leads are wrapped around the push-pull to fit within the cavity, the top wafer is the ground from the neck pickup and the bottom is the hot from the mid pup.

Top wafer ground from mid pup, bottom wafer hot from bridge p90 coil.

Can't accuse me of being tidy, anyways.

Here's the fit:
