Fast Cars, got one, post it.

dangerousr6 has the r6. i couldn't even keep up with that. the maximX is from the 80's and is a cruiser. it has a respectable 86hp stock though. not a 10 second machine but most of the crotch rockets at the track i used to visit for test & tune ran like 12's due to rider inexperience. they were 9 and 10 second machines but not to many people could master the hole shot. those things are just too fast for most people.
my friends street legal (although not practical) chevelle runs 9.20 but with the new combo should go 8.99 if we get the suspension tuned. can you run with that.

I thought about making a new topic, but I'll just necropost in here since I've just a few pics to share.
I got out my 1963 Corvette last weekend.

Who would've thought that black, white, and chrome look great together?

What a beauty! Don't see one those every day! Rarely see one once a year!

I'd be too frightened to take something like that out on the street. No matter how careful you are, you never know when some dingbat is going to blow a light or something equally stupid that you just can't avoid. You can't exactly go to Parts-R-Us and get '63 'Vette stuff.

You'd be surprised about how much 63-67 Corvette stuff you can find, especially aftermarket OEM spec stuff.

I'm sure that's true. A buddy of mine has an old Monte Carlo and is always showing me sites online where you can damn near rebuild entire frames, suspensions, etc., for the old muscle cars, often with stuff that dramatically improves the OEM stuff if you're not into pure restoration, although you can get that too. Still, not exactly off-the-shelf. You have to be deeply in love to part with the kind of money they want.

I used to have one just about like this - same color anyway. Mine was an '81 928 that was pretty much stock except for big wheels and wide tires, and an S4 wing on back. It was pretty fast and good handling for as comfortable a car as it was on the road.

'77 Trans-Am, 400ci, maroon velour interior...62,000mi...Eidlebrock carb and manifold, Hooker headers, Flowmaster exhaust...sorry to let it go, but I realized I never drove it for fear of the density of traffic on the roads and parking lots where I live, not to mention the appalling lack of common courtesy in humans these days...So, I sold it to a neighbor who assured me it was going to be HIS car, not his 16yr old son's...of course, the kid was driving it to school within weeks of purchase, started making 'improvements', and within 3 months had destroyed the engine by driving it without oil(WTF?!) . See next post for its replacement...[/[URL=http://s1241.photobucket.com/user/pinesnake/media/P2280243_zpsce95532b.jpg.html]

2012 Nissan VERSA, baby!  :glasses9:

Okay, so it's not fast, and barely a car - but it can hold an amp and a guitar, so there.  Don't go hatin'.

What do you want?  I'm a father of three, so I put my money into sportswear for two teenagers, and toys for a toddler - and the occasional guitar toy for yours truly.  My wife has the luxo-barge Honda Odyssey minivan, and I commute in this puppy.  Other folks can invest in either groovy, fun hobby-mobiles, or in overpriced, depreciating assets.  I'll probably give this to my daughter when she graduates from high school next year, and get something else just a tad less bare-bones (Subaru, prolly).

Turns out Versa to Corsa is not that far:

Grabbed another pic.  Winter is coming soon to the midwest, so the days to get it out are numbered.

I'm not new to Chevy's or El Camino's. This was my first El Camino, a 1972 El Camino SS that I owned back in the mid/late 1980's. It's now been 20+ years since I sold that '72 El Camino SS. It was a show stopper, won some type of trophy at any car show it was entered in.
Here's a pic of me with the '72 SS back then. I have more pics stored away which I'll be glad to share when I can. The hair and the shorts are long gone.  :toothy11:

At that time I really wanted more of drag car, so rather than cut it up, I decided to sell it to somebody in a car club with me. I've regretted selling that El Camino ever since, it's always been the "If I could only have one car back" car.

Well here it is 20+ years later and I found a 1969 El Camino SS I just had to have and the timing was right. Once I saw it, I knew it would be mine. My fiance' supported my decision and here it is.

Quick run down:
468cid, 11.1 compression, 4-bolt, steel crank, Eagle rods, 700 lift Crane roller, big port cast iron heads (840 castings), Holley 850 dp, Wilson Manifolds prepped intake, Wilson fogger and plate system (150 shot each), turbo 400, 2800 stall, 12-bolt posi, Richmond 4:88 gears, Strange 32-spline axles, 4-link rear end, plenty of other odds and ends to go along with all that.

Heavens to Murgatroyd! Whatta machine!

I've always been a fan of that model - came close to owning one years ago, albeit in stock form. Never saw anything like that, though. Kinda surprised, what with the light ass on them. Between that and all that engine it seems like you'd just burn the tires right off it before it went anywhere.
