Is "parchment" a less bright version of white? Maybe more of a satin than gloss finish? I'm thinking the white can be improved upon... but I'm not sure what color/texture "parchment" is. When I hear that I think of the paper I printed my resumes on 25+ years ago.

And now I'm off to start  shortening screws and soldering things together.

Nice looking neck!

Parchment isn't a color, it's a material. It comes in a lot of different shades ranging from nearly white to nearly brown, with the in-between points being decidedly yellowish. Typically, it's dark enough that you wouldn't call it an "off" white. For example...

So, I'd be careful about buying anything "parchment" colored sight-unseen.

Looking good there Desmo....The neck plate should be there shortly.... :headbang:

Sweet! Thanks

I'm hoping the tuners show up too, the story I get from the shop doesn't match what the tracking says. Shop says they went out, USPS site says they never got sent. I'm not all that confident in the USPS info but still...  I'm paranoid they got lost... shoulda been here by now according to my calculations!

Hey DD,

Don't trip about the USPS tracking info.  I use them all the time and quite often the tracking info is not even close.  Sometimes it shows nothing until it actually arrives.
Showing not shipped for a few days after it is actually shipped is quite common.  If you trust your seller, I would go with their word.
After all, we are talking about the workings of a government agency...
Go figure

Well, something weird is going on but at least it shows up in the system now.  They assured me it shipped on Monday, but it took until Friday to get processed through their local Post Office? Whatever... it should get here on Monday which is ok I suppose. It's the tuners, once they're here the final piece will be the neck plate. not including the trem cover, but that's optional.

Progress report..  I countersunk the holes on the pickguard last night. The holes in the pickups were too small for the moutning screws but I took care of that this morning. I finished wiring the pickguard about ten minutes ago. Tomorrow I drill the first holes in the body. Yikes.    :-\

In the spirit of it not being true if there aren't pictures;

You can't tell from the picture but I did put a treble bleed on it, and there are some solder tabs between the pots and the shield. The tone cap uses one along with the pickups and trem ground.

And one more of the body showing it in another light, making it look even more brown. I'm intrigued by how black it looks sometimes and how brown it looks others.

Curly and quilted maple both have an iridescent quality to them that causes their appearance to change depending on the angle you view them from, and cameras aren't as easily fooled as the eye. I have a Les Paul copy here with a curly maple top where the camera invariably returns different images than what I see. At some angles, it almost looks like there's no curl, and at others it's exaggerated. It has to do with how the reflections and shadows are percieved vs. how they're recorded.

Got my Sperzel Trim Lok tuners today... drilled the locating holes and only had to tweak one of them... then discovered I only have five washers!

I sent them an e-mail but I think tomorrw I'll probably hit the local guitar shop and see if they have anything that will work.

Warmoth says Sperzel hole sizes are 25/64. All the specs I see online say they should be 13/32?  I asked for 25/64 and am leaving that stand since I'd rather have them a touch small than a little loose.

While I'm thinking about it - Sperzel Trim Lok tuners fit the Warmoth spec 25/64 holes like a (six fingered) glove. Now if they'd only drill the locating holes too...

Got home last night and there was an envelope from Sperzel with two nickel washers in it. Thanks, Sperzel! Then I looked at the neck again and... do you ever go back and look at work you did earlier and discover you just aren't happy with it? It seems that at some point between when I mounted the tuners and last night, two of them moved a little. The center two. They just didn't seem right to me... they were rotated a little. I hadn't noticed it before, but once I saw it, they stuck out like a sore thumb. I tried to convince myself no one would notice but at the same time I was stripping the tuners off. Next thing ya know I was tweaking the locating holes on said tuners. They look much more better now.

Now, if the post office would do it's part and deliver the neck plate, we could finish this bad boy up...

Thank you usps... you took your sweet time but finally it's here, the last piece if the puzzle...

Neck plate by Doug.

Expect more pics later... I'd be working on the finishing touches now but it seems I've had a few cocktails and I don't want to go near this thing with a drill at the moment...

I need to clean it up and take some better pics before posting in the completed section (along with mount the trem cover) but... it's in tune, it makes noise, and aside from a few details like strap lock buttons, a trem cover, and a pro set-up, it's done! I'm not 100% sold on the white pick guard but this it waht it's going to look like for a while anyway.

i think you should keep the white pickguard because it enhances the figuring of the rest of the guitar

sweet build!  :headbang1:
