nice piece.  It is my imagination or is you ability to create finer (more thin) lines increased?

Still waiting to see the products of your new machine.  Any plans on turing a solid piece of billet into a one piece guitar??  Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :icon_scratch:

Yes you are correct, I ran across some engraving tooling, and it alows for a finer cut. There are some other options I'm looking into also....

the new machine is a CNC lathe, only cuts round stuff, but I did make a ball hitch for my truck...Pretty cool stuff, no plans on the one piece billet, that's too much work, and I ain't got the time... :icon_biggrin:

The cherry blossom plate got here today, and I must say it looks better in person than I had anticipated! The lines are very fine, giving it a subtler feel than I imagined. I took a picture of it next to the miniature mockup of the body that I did. Thanks again, Doug!  :occasion14:

Excellent, glad you are pleased Bob, that will looks sweet when it's done. Is that going to be painted or carved into the body.... :dontknow:

What....Holy....Oh my god.

I want this SOOOO badly. I've wanted a Koi guitar for so long. That is beautiful man.

rapfohl09: Thanks! I've been a little down about this project since there was a mixup with the body, but the neckplate has renewed my interest. I'm getting excited about it again.

Doug: The image will be woodburned on an alder body. I'll probably finish it in several layers of Tru-Oil. (Unless it's warm enough to spray lacquer in the garage by that time.) The neck will be bubinga and all the hardware will be black.

That sounds like a fun project Bob, I've wanted to try the woodburning thing on a guitar myself.....Just never had the project to fit that yet.....I'm glad to hear the neck plate has given you some inspiration to respark the interest....  :headbang1:

Just received LB1 in the mail. You're right, the brass is really looking great - probably the best one so far. I'll post a couple of pics but it'll only be after the holidays are over.

I don't have any idea what is happening there. but I like it.

Dangerous - Get some a cheap 12"-24"  softbox/tent ($15-25) , and a Go to KEH and buy a used digicam with some manual controls. Do the homework to get a good shot.  Then permanently slap it all together on manual settings so you just throw a plate in the softbox and take the picture.  Repeatable pictures that look great every time. Highly reflective stuff is difficult enough, practically impossible with on camera flash.
