Custom neckplate

I think to get the full effect of the material, it might be a good idea to take a page from Babicz's "full contact" idea. Rather than stand the things off the baseplate with height adjustment screws, have them sit flush. Then, instead of a cam for height adjustment like they did, use an sliding wedge ramp. Have the whole saddle index in and out to set intonation with a screw through the back as is commonly done. Maximum contact area regardless of settings, so maximum coupling with the body.

Good idea, I'll have to work on that... :headbang:

Doug, do you keep files on all the plates you make? If I need more like the one you did in May of 2016, can you pull that up or want me to just send you a picture, I still have it?

I'm pretty sure he does. Be foolish not to. As far as I know, nobody sends him CNC-readable files so he has to create them, which I'm guessing is not a trivial task. I always get the same plate, and have bought 20 or so from him with the only change being the date. Usually, I just send him an email that says "I need a November 2017 plate" with no other details, and a week later I have one.

Yes I do keep all the old files, I have lost some I had on a usb drive, but if it was in 2016, I should still have it..

This isn't a neck plate, but something cool, I whipped this emblem up for a friend of mines custom shop.

Very nice stuff! So, are those emblems you put on the valve covers, or did you have to engrave the covers themselves? Also, what is "Ol' Blue"? I'm thinking maybe an old pickup?

The covers had some other emblems, so I made those with his shops name and mounted them on the covers..And "Ol Blue" is a 1950 chevy 5 window..

Very cool stuff as usual, Doug. Especially those valve cover emblems!  :icon_thumright:
Thanks Steve, that emblem is actually domed and the logo matches the surface of the dome.. :toothy11:

Blacked out the lettering and edges.    Doug was great making this one off piece.

Btw...it will be replacing the truss cover on the Warmoth 4 string bass headstock.  Not a lot of room there so we had to modify.

That looks great! What did you use to do the edge/fill?

Thanks.  Just black spray paint.  I then lightly sanded the top leaving the paint in the recessed lettering.  I am going to go over with a some 600; 800, and 1000 to smooth it a bit more.
