I  think a wider selection of ferrule holes and Ferrules would be just AWESOME!!!  how bout star shaped inserts that were circular in the seat but star shaped and counter sunk...lol
I do think that would be cool....though I would just be happy to have plain ole countersunk Ferrules.....that would be a nice option.  And its true once that became an option we would all have to build new guitars that have the newest counter sunk Ferrules....sounds like a win/win to me....

would be nice just to have the holes a tiny bit larger. it seemed like i had to do A LOT of routing to get my ferrules to fit even close to properly. and even now they could really use some more work to get them perfect. i guess this could be a huge issue on an unfinished body with the holes being too large, though.

Yeah countersunk would be a nice touch. It's too much headache for a novice like me to do any of that, and it's not worth paying anyone to do. Make it a $10 charge and add it as an option and everybody would probably be happy.

They don't need to be counter sunk, so why bother? I like the fact that the lip sits on top finish. It's on the back of the guitar where it contacts and rubs your body. To me it seems better to have it over the finish, that way the rubbing action won't flake the finish away.

Warmoth countersinks the routes for the bass ferrules, at least when ordering a body that's routed for the Takeuchi bridges.  It should be possible for them to do the same for guitar bodies as well.

However, I've found that I need to gently scrape out some of the finish, which coats the countersunk holes and makes it almost impossible to press in the ferrules so the top surface is flush with the body.

Some guitars look better with the lip on top, more rustic looking stuff. But I do think it looks a little more sleek which seems to suit modern looking guitars better. But again, I'd say make it an add-on option rather than standard.
