 I picked a bad month to give my VI a second try...  And we should all recognize DbU's "Keanu" by now.  :icon_jokercolor:

Thank you for the kind words re: my bass.  There have been plenty of times that I've perused these forums looking at the GoM builds and I was very reluctant to put my first on display...

He's persistent that's for sure... :icon_biggrin:

I'm sure there will be some last-minute Teles and Strats that make their way in  :icon_tongue:

Even with the lack of Teles and Strats there are some interesting entries this month! Good Luck everyone!  :icon_thumright:

Hey mods, guys,
I in no way wish to alienate myself to the board mods or fellow warmothians but being a still relatively newbie I`m not sure where else to post this since it does relate directly to this post however I would like to get a general consensus of my proposed entry to this months OPEN category.
It is a factory Ibanez refitted with a warmoth 24 3/4 conversion neck and has made my most unplayable guitar into one of my most playable.

I have been advised by return email that

"As it sits, at the present time, your addition of a Warmoth neck to a factory constructed Ibanez is outside the implied intent of the contest.

However, a ruling will be sought from the powers that be, and your instrument may be able to be resubmitted for a future contest.  I can't say if a ruling will be available for this month's contest.

You'll be informed either way

Thanks

GOM"

I would be curious to know if

A: any of the entrants in particular have any objection this month to competing against this instrument and
B: if any members have any objection to competing against this kind of warmoth upgrade in general.

Thanking you all in advance for your understanding and constructive feedback.

Wombi8 - I'm not involved with running the contest, but I would suggest looking over the rules and guidelines at the top of the GOM section, if you haven't already.

If it has a Warmoth neck, I'm not sure why it wasn't accepted. I don't think any content should be implied or left to be interpreted, but keep in mind that those running the contest are doing it on their own time so if something was unclear in your e-mail submission or they have to clarify the contest rules, they may not be able to respond before the deadline tonight.

I also don't really understand why that wasn't allowed. The language in the OP and the rules is really clear and I don't see a problem.

Fair question.  The vast majority of submissions in the past have been entirely or almost entirely Warmoth parts; including body or neck blanks.  There have been a handful of submissions with member built bodies and/or necks.  Your build takes a step away from either one of those scenarios.  Please bear with us as we take a moment to ponder.

To be completely clear, that does not diminish your work in any way.  In fact, I would ask if you would create a new thread in the 'A Work in Progress' category detailing what you've done.  What model Ibanez and were you able to install the neck without any modifications?  Historically, Warmoth necks (or any Fender spec neck) do not fit Ibanez bodies.  How about the wiring mods?
