Red, red, I want Red, green ain't mean compared to Red... :headbang1:

That last pic of the guitar looks just like the ribs i had for dinner, Tasty!
Great job on the finish!  :headbang1:

Bart's guitar is killing me! I took a picture of it next to my Gibson and now I think I'm in the mood to refinish my Lester!
The lemon yellow on his is way nicer and though you can't see from the pictures the red is way sharper.

You sound surprised.

Even the Koreans do a better job than Gibson.

Yours is absolutely delicious.

But, I wouldn't refinish the Gibby. It'll wreck the value for the fanbois. Sell it if it pisses you off, and build/finish a proper one for yourself.

This is going to be a very nice guitar. I got the top polished out today and this is a beauty. It is redder than the picture but it still looks great in the pic. We are waiting on the neck for it to get it completed but so far it is beautiful.

Tonar,

That is just beautiful :glasses9:  I cannot wait to see it completed and hold her in my arms...
I can't help but compare it to the pic of a Collings guitar that recently came across.

Not at all  :laughing7:

We got the neck in for this baby finally and its a good one.  It is extremely light weight, has a beautiful rosewood board and has a real nice tap tone.

I used the FSRT Red 1/2 oz., aniline dye from LMI. Here is the link. http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts.asp?CategoryName=Dyes&NameProdHeader=Aniline+Dyes+Alcohol+Soluble
I mixed the whole jar into about a 1/3 cup of lacquer thinner and ground as much of the pigment in to the thinner as I could with a stir stick. Then added some McFadden's neutral oil base filler. I did not use to much filler, really only enough to do one guitar. Then I put it on a paint shaker for about 12 minutes. Sorry I'm a little like grandma in the kitchen so I really never measure things exactly but that is pretty close to what I did.

Thanks for the info.  I used to do similar things with automotive paint.  Just mix color & thinner until you get what looks right and add to your paint.  I really appreciate how open you are with sharing these kind of finishing tips.

Pffttt Tonar strikes back... one shot, one kill, as always...

The only "but" for me is the red finish on back, I preffer the brown ones :) But it's personal taste and that is a very awesome burst... Tonar "da burst's man" :laughing7:
