Cooking one up for Black Dog

Not sure if this is a Gibby or Warmoth, but it's the best looking LP I think I've ever seen..

Based on the "cuticle-eaters" teeth under the knobs and the distance of the pickup from bridge, I'd say Gibson. All throughout thick and thin, they have been able to blow a mean 'burst... I don't know which is which, but they have "iced tea" and "desert sand" and "faded tobacco" and all these others that look fine. I wonder if you can send them a Warmoth to paint.... :evil4:

Yes that is a Gibson Historic Custom Shop Les Paul.

They really have built some exceptional Lesters in the past few years. I have lusted after many a Lester since 2009 when they started doing the copies of famous bursts like Billy Gibbons', both of Jimmy Page's, Mike Bloomfield's, and the Collectors Choice series. Also Wildwood Guitars has them build Historic Les Paul's to their spec's with longer studs, TonePro bridges and custom wound pickups which have gotten rave reviews. One minor detail; get out your wallet $$$$$$$$$$$

My R4 is a 2009 Historic custom shop 1954 Wrap-tail that is an exceptional guitar. I thought I was going to have to change the pickups and pots to make it perfect but after I received it and played it I'm not changing a thing. That is the consensus among most of the people I have read reviews about the 2009 P90 equipped Lesters.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ...... Tonar your bloody great at what you do .... Wow Wow Wow  :headbang:

OH Crap  :o  that Lemon Dye is exactly the finish I was looking for, for either a Quilt or Flame maple top.

I'm in love ..... I'm feeling some GAS  :toothy10:

For 25 grand, I think I'd just find an old Les Paul... I do love ZZ Top and the Reverends awesome guitar prowess. But I ain't coughing up 25k for a remake.  :dontknow:

This isn't exactly Pearly Gates, but it's an original '52 Gold top for 15k...

I completely, absolutely, beyond any doubt, categorically, clearly, decidedly, doubtlessly, easily, explicitly, expressly, far and away, indubitably, no if's and or but's about it, obviously, plainly, positively, specifically, surely, undeniably, unequivocally, unmistakably, unquestionably, without doubt, with out fail, with out question, one hundred percent, agree with you Dangerous. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

I would take that old gold top 52' original over that newfangled, contemporary, designer, red hot, mod, modernistic, novelty, new age, present-day, state-of-the-art, ultramodern, fashionable, nouvelle, updated, futuristic, latter-day $25K shinny geetar any day of the week.

Alternately, I could have Toner make me a whole bunch of em for $25K...  :headbang1:

I put 2 coats of cherry red paste filler on at the beginning of the week and then let it shrink until today. I put 3 coats of clear on the back and one additional coat on the face. I'll let it set over the weekend and if I can get the top level sanded with out adding any finish I should be bursting it next week.

Here it is with just the filler. This picture represents the color much better than the next two.

Here it is with the clear. This piece of mahogany is really beautiful and the medullary rays in the grain are outstanding!!

Here is a shot of the cherry colored side with the top.
