Just got the latest stu-mac catalog, and they have this cool gizmo:

Have not used it, but I have spent an eternity taping off a fretboard.  This promises to end all that pain.

I saw that in the new stewmac catalog the other day as well.  Super cool.

The $8 price tag, for a one time use piece of tape, seems kinda steep though.

I suppose if you were doing just one guitar once in a while it'd be no big deal, but that'd get pretty expensive if you had a repair shop and were using those constantly.

Not if you factor in the time @ labor rate that it would take to mask off the neck with tape

Im a Big Stew Mac lover..they offer the most usefull and largest range of tools and info of anysite I have found......that is very cool stuff right there. :icon_thumright:

We should have a monthly geek-out when the new StewMac catalog is shipped.  :toothy12:

I was going to post that too.
It's a great idea and when you factor in the time, not too bad.

Sounds like my house...soon as I get me a guitar catalogue....I get all comfortable and absorb every detail I can...lol....makes Great bathroom reading....lol... :laughing7:

I saw that in the catalog and thought it was a great idea.  Then I walked around and looked at my guitars.....and discovered that I'd almost need one type per guitar.  Not to mention the oddball scales they don't make.  I rarely have to mask off an entire fretboard, and a single metal guard will do for most spot jobs.

For a full service shop that cranks out many Fenders, Gibsons, and Martins etc on a daily basis....it looks like a huge time saver.  For my small time operation, I'll stick to three different width rolls of drafting tape and a handful of single fret guards.

My word... very clever chaps those StewMac'ers.

They've found a way to recycle the protective cover from a cheese grater!~

Good show I'd say.  Pip pip
